All the Lies in the Books
Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Shannon walked down the hall, practically on autopilot. She headed down to the ugly bright orange lockers, hers happened to be the bightest and the uglyest. Shannon, the only non-Christian at her school, brushed way her long red hair, so as not to be in the way of her emerald eyes.
"Hey, Ireland, what's up?" a perky little voice asked. Shannon looked up to see Mary, a thin cheerleader with blonde streaks in her hair. Shannon didn't envy Mary for being so thin. Mary, and pretty much every other girl at her school, may have been about a size 4, but Shannon was comfortable at 10.
Shannon looked back into her locker and said," The roof?" Right after that, she wished she had said nothing, for the shrillest, most annoying laugh came out the small girl.
As Shannon was beating her head against the metal door of the locker, she heard Mary say,"Oh, where did all these come from?" She was talking about the 50 ba-zilloin postcards taped inside the locker.
"My dad got them for me," Shannon said, with some pride. Her dad traveled all over the world, because he was a pilot. This, and her parent's divorce, kept her from seeing her father.
"That's cool, I really like the one with the duck on it," with that, Mary skipped off to a group of her cheerleader friends. Shannon stared at the postcard from the Peabody Hotel, with the ducks splashing in the fountain.
Shannon wiped away the growing tears, grabbed her history book, and slammed the locker closed.
The hallway was was much more crowded, it seemed to her, than before she had gone to her locker."Move please, MOVE GODDAMNIT!",she yelled of desperation. She couldn't afford another tardy.
"beeeeeeeeep!" the old intercom spat
"Aw, Crap!" she slowly trudged up the stairs to her History class.
