You wrote on a note you loved me.
How could I reply?
Since you could clearly see
That I’d rather look at the sky
Then see your face everyday
I had only ever thought of you as a friend
What more can I say?
You think that liking you is the new trend
Amongst every girl
Sometimes I think I should like you to make you feel
Like the pearl
In the oyster shell to have appeal
To everyone else.

But there were a million lovely things I could have said to you
Even though it would be a lie
I wouldn’t say I love you unless I really do
I know you’re shy
But I won’t like you because you want me to.
