Hive Thoughts
A terrible journey through the collective Hivemind of a psychopath
Abyss
Anyone that knows me could tell you that I love the ocean. Its the most beautiful place on earth, and I never get tired of it. From the majestic coral reefs to the desert like open ocean, it fascinates me.
But nothing like the deep sea. When I was a kid I found a book that had a short chapter in it about the strange fish that lived in the darkest depths of the ocean. I was instantly hooked. I tried to learn more and more about them. Hell, the first time I was on a boat in open ocean and I went in the water I was freaked out thinking about what COULD be below me.
Consider how LITTLE of the ocean we really have explored. I dont have specific numbers but Ive heard only 50% total of the open seas and only ONE percent of the ocean floor. One percent. How long have we been on this planet? That means that the 99% of the ocean floor, which is one of the few places on earth UNTOUCHED by humans, has been supporting some kind of life. We used to believe that no organism could survive without some form of sunlight, but discoveries of new species proves that we were wrong.
What else could we be wrong about?
The giant squid was just a legend until the past few centuries, and thats only one creature we used to consider a "sea monster."
Honestly, anything could be living down there. The idea of HUGE freakish creatures isn't that far fetched. You could argue "Well they would have to eat a ridiculous amount of food in order to sustain themselves." Maybe its a type of life form we haven't encountered. Silicon based or something similar.
Use your imagination, you might dream up the fantastic

Or maybe even something a little bit realistic

Well...at least the last one is realistic looking to ME.
The one thing I think about more than leviathans though, is if a society could survive down there. We STILL haven't captured or fully-filmed a giant squid, so it proves how elusive things could be. Alien life could possibly be below the surface of our own damn planet...while the rest of the world is boring and mundane, that sea has been stirring up the imaginations of people since the first man dove beneath its surface.
I want a pet sea serpent.
