Rantings and Raving Mostly it's going to be me...well, ranting and raving. About celebrities, books, movies...anything that comes to mind really. No particular pattern or set time that they'll be posted. Not that I think people are fighting to get to read these. ^^

Chapter One - 'A Guest'
I've decided that I'm going to write one of my stories here in my journal. Mostly 'cause I'm bored and partly cause I thought of it while I was making the two figures down there in my signature. So, I would apprieciate a comment, but you hardly have to.

~~~ ~~~
The sun hadn't yet topped the horizon when the alarm clock began its irritating buzz. The lump of blankets on the bed that might, by a slight stretch of the imagination, have been human, shifted and groaned loudly. The noise had no affect on the alarm clock, and after a second a hand shot out and nocked the small device to the wooden floor with a crash. Still, it continued it's happy racket until, finally, a teenage boy sat up angrily and switched it off. He stood grumpily, leaving the clock where it lay, and set about dressing.
Ten minutes later he stumbled down the stairs and into the cheerily lit kitchen. A small girl who shared the boy's brown hair, though obviously kept much longer, sat at the table and smiled widely at her brother. The two looked alike, although her eyes lacked his green mixed in with the sky blue of their mother's, and she had a milder temper.
"Good morning, Mikhail." Said mother smiled absently over her shoulder at her eldest child and then returned to the pancakes cooking on the stove. Mikhail grunted unenthusiastically. He froze in the act of stabbing his fork into the pancakes that his mom set in front of him and stared at the far, empty corner of the kitchen. Except that it wasn't empty this morning. A boy a little older than himself was sitting cross-legged on the floor, watching them with his oddly silver eyes. Pale white hands absently played with a small object Mikhail couln't see as a gust of wind blew through the room from an open window, the current moving not so much as a hair on the boy's head.
"Mom, we have another guest." He ground the last word out from between his teeth and his little sister looked up excitedly. She followed Mikhail's gaze to the corner and squinted in concentration.
"I don't see anything!"
"Count your blessings. I'm leaving."
"Have a good day at school, sweetie." Mikhail's mom glanced at the empty corner where, unseen by her, the boy had unfolded himself to follow Mikhail through the door. Literally, in his case.
