Gah. I just read these reviews of RENT on this one website. GAHHHH. Most of them were criticizing RENT and calling it cheesy and crappy. AND THEY MADE FUN OF ANGEL FOR BEING A CROSSDRESSER! Those BASTARDS!

So now I'm fuming and listening to RENT by myself because James is stuck in a blackout. So now I don't really have anyone to b***h to about how those little bastards are gonna die. xp stressed

It bothers me so much that so many people think RENT is a political movie. It's really NOT. It just brings up so many tough issues to talk about, and AIDS is a big one. They don't ever actually make a bunch of big statements like, "I'm being opressed because I'm gay and people discriminate me!" None of them say that. A crossdressing man just happens to love another man. And a woman just happens to love a woman. Just like how Roger happens to love a girl, Mimi. It just shows that it shouldn't matter if you love someone of the same sex, just like how there's nothing wrong with loving someone of the opposite sex. It's mostly about the AIDS epidemic of the late 80's. Characters are based off of people Jonathon Larson knew in his life, and Mark is based off of him because so many of his friends had AIDS (both his straight and gay friends of course) and were dying without knowing why.

It's about love. It's about how people should live their lives, not letting regret get to them because then that will just drag them down and miss what's ahead of them.
