Momo's request, My Inuyasha story!
Complete

Summary: This story has to do with what happens after Naraku has been defeated and the jewel is nearly whole. To be exact, it only needs one more shard. In this story we will go through the adventures of the group as this all occurs. I warn you though; this is mostly a sappy story about Inuyasha and Kagome, Sango and Miroku, and Kikyo’s destiny. There will be some action and of course some laughter. But if romances aren’t your thing, step away now!

Chapter 1: I like you the Way you are

Kagome glanced over at Inuyasha. His amber eyes glowed with the moonlight. His stare seemed set on the crystal clear water in front of them. Things had grown quiet since their talk. They always seemed to do that. He never seemed to listen to her opinion. He never realized the way she felt about his decision. He never realized her undying fear of his demon self.

She turned her head forward once more, staring at the reflection of the moon in the lake. “Won’t you even try to listen to…” she tried to say.

“Just drop it, Kagome!” Inuyasha replied irritably. His hair slightly swung as he jerked his head opposite of her. Inuyasha hated talking about this. It was his decision to become full demon. It was his decision. Why did she have to interfere with her constant opinion?

It was true. Inuyasha had not yet realized how out of control his demon side was. Sure, he knew that on several occasions he had tried to harm Kagome. All he thought of was protecting her. All he thought of was becoming stronger. He didn’t realize that it would do more harm than good to do what he wanted.

“You can be such a jerk,” she muttered quietly under her breath. Her arms crossed and her usually cheerful smile turned to a frown. She couldn’t believe he wouldn’t even listen to her. It was as though he tuned her out every time she mentioned it.

Almost immediately after she spoke those words, Inuyasha turned quickly. He gripped her shoulders, now looking her straight in the eyes. “What did you say?” he demanded.

For just an instant, Kagome became mesmerized by the face in front of her. His hair flowed, touching her shoulder lightly before resting back on his kimono. After that instant, she looked down and to the side slightly. She knew to avoid any confrontation or unwanted staring that she must have had to do so. “Nothing, it was nothing,” she said quietly, not even wanting to look at him.

Inuyasha noticed Kagome’s glum expression. He noticed the glitter in her stunning auburn eyes was missing. His grip on her slightly loosened up before he completely released her from his grasp. “Fine, just say it,” he said, feeling defeated.

Kagome nodded. She was pleased to hear that he actually felt like hearing her belief. “It’s just… I like you as a half demon. As a full demon you’ve always been so ruthless and had a craving to kill. Your actions frightened me. It was almost as if you lost yourself completely. You didn’t even notice me,” she said.

Inuyasha and she had been looking at each other, amazingly while she was talking. Inuyasha looked slightly to the ground. He felt as though his opinion needed stressed too. “But I need to be stronger.” He tried to explain, “If I don’t… I’ll never be able to fully protect you.”

Kagome’s eyes shimmered with feeling. She nodded, understanding his side now. But she still had more to say. “I understand that completely Inuyasha. Though I don’t understand why you feel the need to be stronger. You defeated Naraku as a half demon. What more proof do you need? Anyways, becoming full demon won’t protect me in the least. You barely recognize me when you transform. I just think you’d be better off not doing that. But, it’s your decision. You decide what you want,” she said. Kagome stood up, ready to head back to the camp.

She froze as a hand reached up, grasping hers and stopping her from going further. She turned around to look at who had committed this act. “Inuyasha,” she muttered. She felt a slight pressure as he stood, using her slightly as support. She stared at him as he did with her. They stood, staring, for nearly thirty seconds. She then felt herself pulled towards him. Her face felt the cloth on the shoulder of his fire rat kimono. “Inuyasha,” she said once more.

“Kagome is that really how you feel?” he asked softly. He felt the movement of her head as she nodded. He lowered his head. “I could never allow myself to do that. Trust me,” he said, once again in a gentle tone. He felt as Kagome nodded once more. This time, he felt her head rest against him.

The two soon returned to camp, aware they were needed there. Inuyasha walked over to a tree, leaning against it. Kagome huddled with the others around the fire. Shippou was slightly farther from the fire.

Inuyasha suddenly felt something on his shoulder. He turned his head to see Shippou looking oddly at him. His little green eyes stared blindly at Inuyasha. POW! Inuyasha hit Shippou right upside his head, falling to the ground.

“Ehhh! Inuyasha, what was that for?!” he complained. Shippou furiously rubbed his orange hair with his tiny hands. His eyes clenched shut and his mouth was wide open.

“Shut up you little runt!” Inuyasha said irritably, “why the hell were you staring at me?”

Shippou smiled. “What were you and Kagome doing out there alone for so long?” he asked in an annoying little tone.

Kagome had heard this and blushed at the very sound of his question. Inuyasha just looked in the other direction. “Nothing,” he said.

Shippou looked at Inuyasha oddly. He absolutely knew that was not the true answer. Whenever he asked that question, Inuyasha would always seem to give nearly the same reply. It couldn’t be nothing every single time. At least once it had to have been something. Shippou became irritated with the constant questions running through his head and walked back to the fire.

Kagome soon stood several minutes later. She walked over into the darkness Inuyasha had hidden himself in. She was shocked to see that he was no longer in that location. “Uhh...” she muttered as she looked left then right. Kagome’s head then swung upward as a small leaf fell on her head. She saw Inuyasha sitting on a high branch. His focus seemed locked on the moon.

She looked at the tree, hoping she could find a way to climb it so that she could reach him. Her luck, there were branches leading up that almost seemed in a staircase form. She quietly made her way up the branches and snuck behind Inuyasha, scooting beside him. She remained quiet, noticing that he had not even glanced at her.

Inuyasha noticed her though. But he made no effort to make this apparent. Instead he just smiled barely even enough to be noticeable. But you know what, Kagome noticed this. She smiled as well and leaned against Inuyasha. His fire rat cloth felt soft against her head. She smiled again.

Inuyasha seemed to have a very slight blush as Kagome took this action. He turned his head oh so slowly and just enough to get a glimpse of Kagome. She seemed so calm, so serene. Her hair spread across the shoulder of his kimono. He exhibited a pleased smile and then leaned against her.

The two ended up falling asleep in this position that night.
