Background Info: Rena is a sweet, compassionate person who is always there for others. She is the type of woman who puts her friends first before she even thinks about taking care of herself. Although short and a girl, don't let Rena fool you. She is strong both mentally and physically making a valuable ally and a deadly foe. Despite her kind manner and warm smile, Rena has a dark past. Her mother, Briar, was one of the few scientists who worked on the Jenova project along with Dr. Gast, Dr. Hojo and Lucretia. Like Lucretia Cresent's thesis on Chaos, Briar's thesis was on Gallion Beast. Unfortunately, Briar died suddenly and under suspicious circumstances, leaving behind her husband and her 2-year-old daughter. Rena never knew her mother.
Rena's father, Johnathon, was the Captain of the Guard on Gaia. He was a well-respected and well-loved man. Johnathon loved his daughter more than anything and did everything he could for her. Johnathon even took in a little trouble-making Reno, teaching the boy respect and other traits to help better his life, rather than simply tossing him into a cell and forgetting about him until he did something to warrant being captured again.
Eventually though, due to matters beyond Johnathon's control, he was stabbed to death in front of Rena by a demented mad man named Hunter, hired by Shinra in the old president's reign (Rufus's Father) to dispose of Johnathon and his daughter. Rena managed to escape and seek refuge with a young Reno. Rena was only 5 at the time of her fathers death but the images still haunt her even to this day.
Rena grew up in the slums along with Reno, and as she grew she learned many fighting techniques which eventually lead her into becoming a member of Avalanche, while Reno goes his seperate way to work for Shinra as a Turk. Rena had been offered the position of turk one too many times, but she refuses each and every time. She knows that not all of Shinra is evil and she fights only the part that is. Loyal to the end, Rena is willing to jump into the fray at any point for her friends even if it is at the cost of her own life. Rena is also very intelligent knowing quite a bit about machinery and science as she does about fighting. Rena has a hard path ahead of her with many dangers and decisions that must be made along the way but out of all she posesses, it is the strength of her heart that will surpass all.
