History of the beast is almost impossible to find, only the most powerful of beings having the faintest idea what it could possibly be. Its never referred to itself with a normal name for very long before changing it again.
Recently its taken up the mantle of "Nexus," mainly because
1) It sounds cool
2) Its grown tired of being called a mere voice.
Nexus isn't a demon, its not a god, its an incarnation. It is personified destruction, a creature given life since man first laid waste to one another's cities. At first it had only existed as an abstract and incorporeal creature, more like a psychic entity. It possesed no real form, but could use its influence to cause more destruction among civilizations.
At the peak of its insubstantial powers it noticed Crix during the dark ages. A bloody knight beating down all evildoers that would stand in his path, giving no quarter and expecting none in return. Perfect.
The possession, and direct physical link to the carnage Crix inflicted gave Nexus the power to finally manifest itself.
Since then it has happily resided in Crix, it keeps him immortal (at least age wise) and feeds off the destruction spread by Crix. By wiping the memory every 100 years, it also keeps Crix in line and oblivious of his situation.
Nexus's personality is sporadic, and sometimes random. The only thing for certain is its carnal need for death and destruction. It is never happier than when Crix is snapping someones neck or kicking someone in the jaw. It also seems to gain amusement from tormenting the poor fellow.
Nexus's physical hold over Crix has 3 stages, as follows:
Stage 1-This is the stage where it begins. When Crix is infuriated enough, taken enough of a beating, or dealt OUT enough beatings, Nexus can start its possesion and eventual travel to the material world. At this stage all of Crix's combat skills are heightened, reaction times are improved, and he generally just kicks a whole lot more a**. The only physical change is the right eye, which becomes totally black, larger than it should be (not by much, but noticable) with a small white iris at the center. It has a large black line, resembling a scar that runs from slightly above the eye to slightly below. The eye moves independently of the other, seeing as its under the control of Crix AND Nexus. It provides superior vision under almost any circumstance, seeing through magical barriers/illusions, darkness, and allowing Crix to focus on faraway objects. It scans the area constantly, keeping its owner aware of where his enemies are at all times nearby.
Stage 2-When Crix is covered in the blood of his enemies and the smell of sweet battle has filled his brain, Nexus can manifest itself as the avatar of destruction. Crix is engulfed in inky darkness and the beast enters our world, whereupon it takes the form of a gigantic, eight legged crab-like monster (Reference image on the front page) This beast is nigh indestructible, capable of ripping apart whole tank regiments with its strength, and generally just being a gigantic engine of brutality.
Stage 3-The impossible stage. Never in all his time with Crix has Nexus been able to hit stage 3. This would be the ultimate manifestation, dwarfing the second stage completely. One can assume that Nexus would finally be free, destruction personified walking the earth and annihilating everyone and everything in its path.
Thankfully it has not been able to achieve such a god-like status...yet.
