Death

How does it feel to wait for death? For dark, iridescent threads to reach out and snag one's soul, dragging them into oblivion.

How does it feel?

To feel and hear the same as the "plink" of a teardrop slowly sliding into the puddle that has already been formed by aforementioned tears.

How does it feel?

When words are not enough to convey the feeling that is before unending doom. Like raw sadness on its impossibly slow journey onto devastation.

How does it feel?

"You're going to die." What is it like to be told that? On a day that feels more real than the world that has suddenly crashed around you.

How does it feel?

On the last week you have, to just sit there, on your bed or on the couch, and ponder with a mind as numb as the frozen snow that has settled at the bottom of your stomach that you are going to die.

How does that feel?

And on the day you are to go, when you have said goodbye to everyone you can think of and regret what is your fate.

How does it feel?

When death reaches down with its jaded black hands, what do you do? Do you embrace it, realizing the life you have lived, or do you shy away, refusing to accept the possibility of no longer living upon this god given Earth.

How does that feel?

And in the end, does the life you were given feel worth it? Was your life too short or was it way too long? Did you lose things you wanted back and gain things you never wanted in the first place?

Has that ever happened?

And when you hear your love one's around you crying, what do you think? Do you wish them to stop or are you thankful they care?

How do you feel?

What of your enemies and the people you never remotely liked? Do you forgive them or do you carry a long-lasting grudge even onto death?

What do you do?

And when, finally, the world that you once knew grows fuzzy, do you smile or do you frown? Do you hate death for taking you away or are you curious where you are to go next?

And what of you now?

Do you go to Heaven? Do you go to Hell? Is rebirth an option or is life just one thing not to be carried onward into another life? Are you to be a wandering spirit or a guardian angel?

What are you to be?

And most importantly, who were you and what are you now?
