Background: She grew up in a normal enough environment, but she was always different from the other children she grew up with. One way she was different was that she could make things happen that normal people couldn't. Another way was that she could hear something most other people (normal or not) can't; animals. Something in her translates the sounds and gestures animals make into coherent speech, and will also translate what she says to them. Her parents would get mad at her when she spoke of this, thinking that she was lying, so she's a little nervous about revealing that power to others. Seeing the animals as her only real friends, Ruki became a bit of a wild child, spending more time in the wooded area nearby where she lived than any where else. Her parents sent her to the school in hopes that she would calm down, and that she would stop accidentally setting the curtains on fire whenever she got too angry.
