Tome of Ice
This is just random thoughts and shhhhhtuff
Life Cycle
This is a poem I wrote for English, hope you guys like it; I kinda cried as I wrote it.
Theme: The Crossing
Attempt at Walt Whitman style writing

A bright light and a newborn’s first breathe;
A magnificent flavor, the baby tastes his first meal;
A rush of astonishment as the baby crawls across the threshold;
A rush of astonishment as the baby takes his first steps;
It seems like yesterday this only just began. 5

The first day of school, he feels nervous about leaving by himself;
His first friend, no longer does he have to be by himself;
The first time he wrote, now he can pass notes to his friend;
The first time he counted to 100, now he can add simple numbers;
It seems like yesterday this only just began. 10

His first pet, he has his first living thing to look after;
His voice cracks, signs of puberty begin;
His first real crush, new feelings rush into his life;
He goes to the DMV for his learners permit, he can now get driving experience;
It seems like yesterday this only just began. 15

He tells his girlfriend he loves her for the first time, he feels whole as a person;
He receives his high school diploma, his parents cry as he shakes the principals hand;
He enrolls into college, his parents cry as he drives away, his first time on his own;
He begins his thesis paper, keeping his goals in life at mind;
It seems like yesterday this only just began. 20

He receives his bachelors degree, his parents cry as he shakes the dean’s hand;
He gets a job as a musician in the Broadway pit orchestra, he finally has a good job;
He buys a house and settles down with his girlfriend, he feels the happiest he’s ever been;
He proposes to his girlfriend, a true fairytale wedding;
It seems like yesterday this only just began. 25

He has a child with his new wife, he is not sure how to be a father, but he feels confident;
He finds a gray hair, age seems to have caught up with him;
He struggles to get off the sofa, it seems he is not as young as he used to be;
He sees his son set off on his first date, such memories this brings him;
It seems like yesterday this only just began. 30

His son brings him a grandchild, so much happiness in his life;
He needs a cane now to walk around the house, he knows his time is soon enough;
He looks into his wife’s eyes, the beauty of their youth remains there;
He tells his wife that he loves her for the last time, a bright light at the end of the tunnel;
A bright light and a newborn’s first breathe. 35

It is 10:07, it's late and I'm tired...and now I'm depressed.
This was so good, it really puts life in perspective.
It's so simple yet very deep.
Love it.
