She and Ren are some of the few who know exactly what C.J.is (though he didn’t give himself away.) They managed to deduce it for themselves and once they realized his role they were very careful to keep it to themselves.
Grandma Ellie is very proud of them, both for figuring it out and deciding to keep it to themselves.
Sue and Ren are about the only ones he can’t pull his background disappearing act on. It’s thanks to Sue that he comes ‘home’ as often as he does.
He would very much like to be the kind of elder brother Ty is to Bea or like his father was to his mother and Ty (and other cousins) before she convinced him to marry her.
Sue and Ren are quite independent but they both know he is there if he is ever needed, a strong, quiet, completely reliable presence in the background. His being there inspires them and gives them confidence to go for their dreams. He is determined to be an important part of his daughter’s life as her mother is currently unable to be. He does his best to see that she doesn’t resent her mother for letting dad’s parents raise her.
Ren and Sue are often taken to visit so they understand why Ren can’t stay with mum right now. Sho loves her daughter and makes sure she knows that but it’s important that Ren realize why she can’t stay with mum.
She and Sue get the point early on but they still enjoy visiting and learning from Aunty Laola and the other students there.
The 3 orphans they grew up around have moved on to go into training of their own.
