The Day You Broke Me
I sit dangled in darkness. Waiting for the enclosed light. I feel crouded. The others, like me, sit still not even a blink. I hum to myself to keep myself from fading into that mist that is trying to take over my eyes and soul. My permenent dress does not make its ruffled sound. My glued necklace stays in place against my pale cold hard skin. Some of the others around me are cold and hard too. Some soft and furry. We all await you. We wait your return. Finaly the light comes back. My eyes still frozen open, like they will always be, shine along with the new joy. You come to us in the corner. You pick up the soft one next to me. This movment causes me to fall. I fall off the bench. I dont feel the air, I cant. All I feel is when I hit and part of me is missing. I know I am cracked. Like I do everyday I call your name. I do it louder. This is as high as I go. You do not answer. Once your favorite china doll is now bent and broken. I will be tossed out. I start to cry. One last time I say your name. Still, you do not answer your little fancy china doll.
