This is a story I entered for a magazine
the story HAS to be 700 words...
thats why there aren't enough details on my characters

I entered this competition because I am still suffering depression
*sighes deeply* my brain isn't functioning properly,
couldn't concentrate on work, so I am surprised that i was inspired to write

I didn't mind that I lost, I'm actually very happy that I actually
got work done so I'm VERY proud that i entered ^_^

So i hope you all enjoyed the story
I don't mind if you don't like it, the only thing that I'm happy about...
is that i actually completed a job meaning I'm slowly recovering!!

'That's number 23, Rose.' Smiled the girl, her blonde hair tumbling down to her shoulders. 'I'm getting close.' She said, sitting next to her friend as they watched the last part of their favourite movie Heartbreakers for the 50th time.
'Still a while to go Thia.' Replied the girl with brown hair, smiling as she turned to her friend looking into her sparkling blue eyes.
'Number 34 for me.'
Rose laughed as she seen her friend's stricken face, before hearing a soft voice from behind.
'Comparing the number of boyfriends again?'
Both girls turned their heads to see a tall lean figure smiling down at the two girls. His blue eyes softened looking at them, flicking his dark hair slightly away from his eyes.
'Can't be helped if we're beautiful.' Rose smiled sweetly to her brother.
'Maybe...but you should take care in what you do..'
'We have you to protect us dear brother.' Rose interrupted with a smile.
'Won't be forever....'
'Why's that Andrew?' Thia cried tearfully.
Andrew immediately comforted Thia, hugging her tightly as Rose just smiled with admiration and akin to disgust.
Rose was nicknamed 'The Boyfriend Thief' and why they both became friends.
They had same tastes and had the 'skills' to lure attached boys to be with them, before dumping them on the same night, all in the name of fun.
Rose knew Andrew had a soft spot for Thia, that's why he became their bodyguard, with his handsome features; the girls would forgive them all.
He knew what Thia was capable of but still he couldn?t resist falling for her, he believed that he could make it real for them both. Her name, Forsythia, means; 'Your dreams will come true'.


In school; Rose slowly climbed the stairs to her next class, at the same time a boy was heading down the stairs. Rose?s heart suddenly beat faster when she saw him, blushing slightly. They walked past each other, heading to their own destination.
Rose questioned herself why she became like this as the boy smiled gently to himself.

Rose saw the boy again during lunch period when she was outside with Thia and Andrew. Rose watched the boy, his hair was dirty blonde; with a smile that would melt even the hardest heart and his eyes were storm cloud grey, instantly making them the focus of her attention.
She watched him play with cards, doing magic tricks she thought, as girls crowded around him to watch with rapt attention as he made the Queen of Hearts disappear into the air, which was later found in a bin.
Then a young girl approached him from behind and kissed him on the cheek with a smile, which he returned kindly. This came as no surprise to Rose who turned away, leaving Thia behind with Andrew, heading back to the classroom.

They crossed again on the same stairs as before, Rose looked up, the boy smiled at her, leaned forward and whispered softly in her ear.
'Roses are beautiful flowers; admired for their beauty but wouldn't dare go near, for fear of hurt from the thorns. But people can?t resist picking them, causing them to forget their fears and get hurt....very suiting for you Rose.'
Before Rose could protest he leaned forward, kissing her deeply on the lips, startling her and tried to push him away, but found she was unable to resist, closing her eyes and surrendered herself to the sweet passion of the kiss.
As they parted lips, he smiled gently and gave her two cards, disappearing before she had opened her eyes. Rose looked down and saw a pair of aces in her hand; she smiled to herself and continued down the stairs.

Thia and Andrew progressed from friends to a couple, Rose smiled at them both as she looked down from a window and saw the same boy, talking to another girl; which she laughed to herself.
She was nicknamed 'The Boyfriend Thief' she soon discovered he was 'The Girlfriend Thief'. The irony was amusing but she knew they would be together soon; she kept the pair of aces that was given to her as she smiled.
'We are...two of a kind.'

10 gold
