Chapter 20
Nero, separated from his friends, was about to be killed by a giant wolf, when he was saved by the very person they were searching for, Chita Shiyounin.
Chita: Hey kid, what're you doing here all by yourself? This place is too dangerous for you to play hide and seek.
Nero: *shyly* I'm lost, I got separated from my friends.
Chita: Aw, you poor thing. Well, I'll help you look for them. *offers her hand* C'mon, we'll look together.
Nero: Um, okay. *takes Chita's hand* By the way, thanks again for saving me.
Chita: It was nothing. Just to let you know, that was no ordinary wolf that attacked you, that was a werewolf.
Nero: A w-what?!
Chita: A werewolf. There's a lot of them living in the town nearby.
Nero: *whimpers* Are they all dangerous?
Chita: No, they're actually quite friendly. The one I'm chasing, the one who attacked you, is the dangerous one. He's been killing people and eating them for weeks. Seems to have a taste for human flesh. I've tried to stop him, but no matter how many times I shoot him, he doesn't get killed.
Nero: Could he be another Immortal? Man, how many of them are there? ... Oh right, there are seven.
Chita: Don't worry kid, you'll be safe with me. By the way, what's your name?
Nero: Nero Kumonji.
Chita: So Nero, you hungry?
Nero: *nods* Uh huh!
Chita: Then c'mon, I know a place.
Chita takes Nero to a diner near a small town.
Nero: Ooooh!
Chita: Don't worry about pay, it's on me. *sees a large man in his twenties, with dark brown shoulder-length hair* Hey Luke.
Luke: Hey Chita, welcome back!
Nero: *whispers to Chita* Who's that? He's big. Bigger than oniichan.
Chita: That's my hunting partner Luke, he helps me track down that flesh-eating b*****d.
Nero: Oh. How does he track them down?
Chita: Simple, he's a werewolf. He uses his nose and instinct to find him.
Nero: O_O He's a werewolf?!
Chita: Don't worry, Luke's good. He won't harm you. *points to a young woman with long brown hair* And that there is his wife Karen, she's human, just to let you know.
Nero: Oh. She's pretty.
Luke: So Chita, who's the little guy?
Chita: This here is Nero, poor little guy got separated from his friends.
Luke: Well don't worry little fella, we'll help you find your friends. *smiles, pets Nero's head*
Nero: *whimpers, hides behind Chita*
Chita: Looks like he's a little shy. Hey Karen, can you give us something to eat?
Karen: Sure, what would you like?
Chita: Hm, I'm thinking we should have dessert first then lunch. *winks at Nero*
Nero: Dessert? o.o
Chita: How 'bout some homemade apple pie? Karen makes the best.
Nero: Oh boy! I love pie! OwO Yay!
Chita: Heh. ^^ Two pies, please?
Karen: Coming right up. *goes to the kitchen*
Chita: *sits in a stool* Don't worry Nero, as soon as we're done eating, we're gonna go back to the forest so we can look for your friends.
Nero: Okay.... *sits in a stool* I hope they're okay.
Chita: *smiles* I'm sure they are.
Karen: *at their table* Here you go, guys. Fresh homemade apple pie. *places 2 pie dishes on the table*
Nero: Yay! *starts eating* Yummy! ^-^
Chita: Any calls about the rogue wolf?
Karen: Nothing yet, but I'll be sure to let you guys know. *leaves*
Chita: *sighs* Damn...
Luke: Hey, mind if I join you guys?
Chita: Sure.
Luke: Thanks. *sits in a stool* Care to share some pie?
Chita: Get your own, you moocher. xD
Nero: *stops eating* Hey Chita-san, there's something I wanted to tell you.
Chita: What is it, Nero?
Nero: Well...... Wait, what if she's still mad at Kitty-san? If I tell her, she might hate me for being her friend. Never mind.
Luke: Is something bothering you, kid?
Nero: It's nothing .... really.
Chita: Maybe you're scared because you think that wolf's gonna find you and hurt you again.
Nero: Y-Yea....
Karen: Chita, you got a call.
Chita: Hm? A call? I'll be right back. *stands up, walks to the phone*
Nero: ..... Luke-san, can I ask you something?
Luke: Sure, kid.
Nero: If there was something you wanted to tell someone, but there's a chance the person might get mad or hate you, what would you do?
Luke: Hm, well if it was something important, I would take the risk and tell them. If they were truly your friends, I doubt they would hate you.
Nero: Maybe....
Luke: Heh. *pets his head* I doubt anyone would hate you, you're a nice kid. *smiles*
Nero: *giggles* Yea. ^^
Chita: Luke, they found the damn beast! We better go get him, before he goes someplace else.
Luke: Okay! *gets up, runs out the door*
Nero: W-Wait, Chita-san!
Chita: Karen, take care of Nero. *runs out the door*
Nero: Chita-san!
Karen: *grabs Nero's arm* You can't go with them, it's too dangerous.
Nero: I have to tell her something! *struggles free, runs behind the counter*
Karen: Come back here! *looks behind the counter, he wasn't there* What the-?! Where'd he go?
Nero ran out of the diner in his fox plushie form and started running after Chita and Luke.
Nero: I better tell them that the werewolf they're after is extremely dangerous. I have to hurry, or they'll be killed. *runs after them*
