Heartbound Memories
Chapter 19
Kitty and her friends were flying in the sky on top of dragon Ryuna's back. They were stopped by a flock of angry crimson phoenixes.
Kitty: Why are they mad at us?
Ryo: We're probably in their territory or something.
Sentaro: Not likely, phoenixes don't have territories, and they tend to avoid fighting.
Ryo: Okay, then I have no idea, dude.
Ryuna: *says something in Draconic*
Kitty: She says from the looks of them, all those phoenixes belong to him.
Ryo: Who's him?
Kitty: Some guy by the name of Xiaolon.
Ryuna: *snarls*
Ryo: Never heard of him.
Sentaro: Probably another Immortal.
The phoenixes started attacking, launching fireballs at Ryuna.
Ryuna: *roars in pain*
Everyone held on tightly as Ryuna squirmed in pain.
Kitty: Hey! *took out her magic staff Charlemagne and attacked a few phoenixes with lightning magic* Stop attacking senpai!
Sentaro: Ugh, this is seriously a waste of time. *stands up, eyes glowing* Kitty, sit down. Leave the rest to me.
Kitty: Oh ..... okay. *sits down*
Edward: *stands up* I'll help. *takes out his fan/windmill shuriken Tenma Yakuman*
Sentaro: Ok then. *unsheathes his giant blade Setsuka* Here we go! *his blade glows blue light* Take this! *as a group of phoenixes flew closer to Ryuna, he slashes their heads off, their bodies dropped towards the ground*
Edward: *throws his shuriken, slashing some phoenixes wings off, the shuriken goes back to him, he catches it*
Bella: WOOT! You go, Edward!
Kitty: Way to go, Sentaro-san!
While Sentaro and Edward were attacking the phoenixes, Kitty, Ryo, Bella and Shouta were blocking the fireball attacks with their weapons to prevent them from hitting Ryuna. They weren't aware that one of their comrades was an open target.
Nero: You can do it, oniichan! *suddenly looks up and sees a fireball heading towards him, it hits* YEOW! *he falls off Ryuna's back* AAAHHH!!!
Kitty: Nero-chan!
Sentaro: *gasps, catches him with his psychic powers*
Kitty: Phew, thank goodness.
Edward: *sees one of the phoenixes aiming an attack at Sentaro* Look out! *pushes him away*
Sentaro: *gets knocked down, loses his concentration, drops Nero*
Nero: AAAHHH!!! *falls to the ground, suddenly is nowhere to be seen*
Sentaro: NERO!!!!!
Kitty: Oh no! We gotta go down there and save him!
Ryo: We can't, these stupid birds are blocking our way.
Edward: I'm so sorry, this was all my fault.
Sentaro: *growls, blue psychic aura engulfes him* I have had enough! *jumps up in the air* Psychic Blast! *sends a huge blast of aura at all the phoenixes, destroying them all*
Kitty: Whoa!
Ryo: Dude, that was awesome!
Sentaro: *jumps back on Ryuna's back, falls on his knees, panting*
Bella: Sentaro-kun, are you okay?
Sentaro: Forget about me, we need to go down there and save my brother. Now!
Kitty: You got it! Let's go, senpai!
Ryuna: *roars in agreement, starts flying down*
They landed in an evergreen forest, surrounded by mountains. Ryuna changed back to her human form.
Kitty: Where do you sense Nero-chan, Sentaro-san?
Sentaro: I can't.
Kitty: What do you mean you can't?
Sentaro: I lost my powers.
Bella: What?!
Ryo: Don't worry, it's not permanent. It always happens whenever he uses a Psychic Blast. He'll regain his powers in at least two hours.
Bella: Oh.
Ryuna: Well then, I guess that means we'll have to search for him the old-fashioned way. *sees Sentaro run off* Hey, get back here! I'm not done!
Sentaro: Don't worry Nero, I'll find you, no matter what it takes. I promise.
Edward: *catches up with Sentaro, along with Bella* Sentaro, I'm very sorry for what happened.
Sentaro: Don't worry about it. Right now, what matters is that we find my little brother.
Edward: *nods*
Bella: Thanks for not being mad at him, Sentaro-kun.
Sentaro: No problem. Now let's go save Nero!
Ryuna: Hmph, such rude kids. Well Kitty, at least you're still- *sees Kitty run off with Shouta* HEY!
Kitty: C'mon Shouta-kun, he must've fell this way.
Shouta: Okay.
Ryuna: *sighs* Youths these days. *looks around* Seems like Ryo ran off alone as well. Hmm.... guess I can use this time to have a litle talk with the other Immortals. *grows giant silver dragon wings from her back and flies off*
While everyone split up to search, Nero was miles away from where they were, alive and unharmed.
Nero: Phew, good thing I turned into a plushie before I hit the ground. *looks around* Where am I? Oniichan? Guys? *hears a rustling sound* Wh-Who's there? Oniichan, is that you?
Out of the bushes appeared an unusually large mahogany wolf, it was looking at Nero with hunger in its eyes.
Nero: *screams in terror, runs off*
But the wolf wouldn't let him escape, he jumped right in front of Nero in a single leap.
Nero: AAAHHH!!! *whimpers, gulps* Okay, you big dumb dog, you asked for it! Good thing oniichan taught me some magic spells. Fire Spell: Pyro Blast! *throws a fireball at the wolf but misses* Huh?! Pyro Blast! Pyro Blast! *throws more fireballs at it*
The wolf dodges all his attacks and started charging towards Nero.
Nero: *gasps, runs but trips on some vines, his foot is tangled on the vines* Oh no! *covers his head, whimpering and crying* I don't wanna die again. Save me, oniichan!
Suddenly, from out of nowhere, gunshots were fired at the wolf, they all hit it but somehow it was able to escape. A girl with short green hair and brown eyes jumped down from a tree, she was holding a small black handgun.
Girl: You can run all you want, wolf, but I will get you someday! *sees Nero* You okay, kid?
Nero: *looks up* Y-Yea. *dries his tears* Thanks for saving me.
Girl: *smiles* You're welcome.
Nero: Um, who are you?
Girl: I'm the best shooter in the world. I'm the hero of these parts. I'm Chita Shiyounin. Pleased to meet you.
Nero: *gasps* Chita Shiyounin?! I can't believe it! I found her!
