RP Profiles, Rants and the general insanity of Kasri
Name: Miranda De Fumiterre
Alias: The Green Witch, The Forest Hag
Age: Physically around 28, though she stopped aging about four hundred years ago after she 'died'.
Occupation: Wise woman, herbalist and guardian of the oldest forest in Europe

Appearance: (I had a picture, but I lost the sketchbook it was in)
Hair: Long, very bushy and a light sandy brown
Eyes: Almond shaped and almost starlingly green
Skin: Tanned and freckled from working outside.
Body shape: She's wide hipped and busty, with a little plumpness around her tummy.

Clothing: Miranda wears a long, russet dress with an apron and bustier, all of which are heavily patched. She has huge, sturdy boots and a wide brimmed, pointed leather hat, which doesn't stick upright like most witch hats, but flops over to one side. Around her neck is a finely carved jade link on a length of black ribbon she found at a trader's stall and took a shine to. Miranda always carries a huge wooden staff, in which dwells a pixie of all things. The presence of the tiny magical being causes the staff to contantly grow leaves, flowers and sometimes even fruit, though never the same fruit twice in a row.

Personality: Miranda is a compassionate creature, though she often looses patience with people very quickly. She's as stubborn as a mule and will fight tooth and nail to do something her way. She's also fiercely protective of nature, and highly maternal, but more at home with furry or scaly things than her own kind. She's very knowledgeable when it comes to the natural world, but having very little contact with the outside world over the last 200 years means that modern society is completely alien to her.

Pets: Apart from the menagerie of injured or unwell creatures that always seem to be in and around her house, Miranda has one huge tabby and white cat called Greymalkin (If you know where that's from I'll give you a cookie) ... or at least he looks like a cat, and Miranda thinks he's a cat. She's never noticed, but there's something awfully odd about him.

History: Miranda lived with her family on the property of a minor lord. They were a poor family, as most of the peasantry was, and subsisted off a tiny plot of land near the woods - a place everyone knew was home to an evil and powerful warlock. Miranda, who was a very grave child who prefered to work with the few scrubby animals they had than play with the other children, often wandered into the woods, much to the horror of her parents. While she was there, she came across an ancient looking man who was talking to squirrels. Completely unafraid, she approached and sat down beside him, not saying a word but listening intently. The man, who's name was Condon, tried talking to her, but she didn't reply, simply listened and watched. This became a daily thing, Condon would venture out into the woods and Miranda would somehow find him, just watching him as he conversed with the various living things there. After three months of this, she joined in the conversation for the first time, not in her native tongue, but in the language of the tree to whom he was talking.

Condon, wh was in fact the fabled warlock of the Forest was greatly impressed. After this he began teaching her things, like which plants had value as medicines, and how to fix broken bones. She lapped all of this up eagerly, and was a natural at it.

Then, the lord who owned her parent's land raised the taxes so high that her family was forced to move into the cities, much to Miranda's dismay. On the night they were preparing to leave, Condon appeared at their door and after a long discussion, Miranda was exchanged for a sack of grain and three gold coins. She went into the forest to live with the warlock, who over the remainder of his life taught her all of the arts he knew. He died when she was 23, and she took over where he left off as an adviser to the desperate and a keeper of the land.

These being the days of great superstition and a fear of anything not like them, she was captured one day five years after Condan's death, tried as a witch and sentenced to death by drowning. Miranda was bound with a rock tied to her feet and dumped in the river, where as far as everyone was concerned, she drowned and died.

Miranda woke up way downriver, deep in the woods. A truly massive cat sat beside her, purring contentedly. Amazingly, she wasn't hurt. She didn't even feel weak. Picking up the cat, Miranda went home. Since then, she hasn't aged a day for 400 years.
