...and if I took this as a compliment, I'd be just as shallow...

So there's this guy at my gym, Jerry, and I knew all along that he was a superficial person, but tonight he pretty much confirmed it when he told me that he only hangs around thin women. Not just thin women, the thinner the better. Like that girl Rene, who's so skinny she's lost all features--she might as well be a goddam plank of wood with a ponytail.

I probably shouldn't have told him that I lost 20 lbs since I started working out. Now he'll be all over me when his thinner girl friends aren't around. And he wonders why I always back up when he approaches me. So superficial...he'll only speak to me when I'm the thinnest girl in the room, otherwise he goes chasing after some size 0. Not like I care, anyway. I mean it's just pathetic to watch--he's like 65 for christ's sake. I guess I'm only recounting this and paying so much attention to detail because I'm so amazed at how shallow a person can be. Like he never even spoke to me when I first started there, when I was almost 140 and a size 9. But now, things look better to him, I guess.
But how can I possibly take that as a compliment? Like, "Hey, congrats! You're worth noticing now!" ******** it. People like that make me so disgusted. These are the types of people I wouldn't associate with unless I absolutely had to, like for the sake of common courtesy.

And one more thing, guys, I don't know where you picked up thinking that it's cool to compliment a girl's shoes just out of nowhere, like, "Hey, I like those shoes." No, it won't get you anything, and people like me find it just plain creepy. Guys don't know jack about girls' shoes except that they're attached to a pair of legs. So don't try to flatter or impress me with that. The only time I want a guy commenting on my shoes is when I ask, "Hey, do these shoes look good on me?" And then I expect a "Yes, they do," or a "No, they make your ankles look fat." Preferably the former.
