Graduation prides and memoirs
It was May 20th, the day she had been waiting for. She just got out from the beauty salon at 9:30am, her hair lustrous and soft, her nails shiny and done, her face colored in simple pastel colors. As the young senior, Sarah, had returned home, she huddled to her room, and once opened, saw her graduation dress, shoes and graduation gown neatly placed on her bed. She quickly dressed, careful not to mess her hair or run her makeup, and once she looked in the mirror, she giggled and spoke to herself:

"Wow, it really does look good on me."She said trying to control her giggling of excitement. "I wonder what Michael will think..."

She stopped and her smile went down a little. She looked up and was in less than a second, drifting away to her thoughts.

"Michael... he's so cute and smart... but what will he think of me now? Will he think I'm pretty? Or, maybe... I look a little too much...?" She shook her head and tried to change thoughts; she was soon to cry anxious, and she didnt want to ruin her makeup.

"No, I can't think about that now, this is my graduation! I should be happy! But still..." Then she laughed while wondering away on her happy memories with him, and with her other friends. She felt sad at the thought of leaving them and going separate ways, but she would become a professional, and so would they. She knew there was no turning back, but to enjoy the graduation alongside them.

"Sarah, hurry up! The graduation is at 1pm!! It's 10 right now!" Yelled her mother from outside of her room.

"Coming, mother!"Sarah yelled back while taking a glimpse of the time.

She hurried and put on her shoes, put on her gown, wear her accessories, and scurried out of the room. When she arrived at the living room, her parents and her big brother were already waiting.

"Well, are you nervous?" Asked her dad with an air of pride, with a "My baby's growing up" expression on his face.

"Ooh, yeah, I guess." Said Sarah trying not to bounce up or down.

" Well, shrimpo, this is your happy day!" Said her brother, goofing off.

"Hey, I'm no shrimpo, I'm almost as tall as you!" Said Sarah laughing.

"Well we have to get going." Said Sarah's father looking at the watch. "We might make it in time before the introduction."

The family entered the car and went off to the school church. Minutes felt like hours to Sarah, and as she looked out the window, she kept remembering all the good times she had with her friends.

I'm really gonna miss them..., She thought and she felt like she had a whole butterfly garden in her stomach when she saw the scool building growing larger into view.

"We're here!" Said her mom, almost crying. " Ohh I'm so proud!"She added hugging Sarah as they got out of the car.

"Aww mom, I'm not leaving for the army or anything."Sarah told her mother while hugging her back.

She along her dad went behing the line of graduating students to wait for their name to be called out. She hid a squeal of excitement with her hand when she saw that she was behind Michael, looking so tall, his blond hair neatly combed to the sides, his brown eyes fixed on the line of students. He looked behind and smiled when he saw Sarah.

"Hey, you made it!" He said turning over to her. "You look pretty." He added slightly blushing.

Sarah dared not say anything, but answered back with a smile and a giggle. They turned back to the line of graduates as they started naming the students one by one, the voice of the principal drowned by the student's parents proud clapping and cheering.

Yes... She thought as they mentioned her name, This is indeed the best day of my life... My 12th grade graduation

This day was another step in which Sarah and many others enter adulthood, a proud moment indeed for themselves and their parents alike. There she sat with Michael next to her, holding hands. And as the preacher kept speaking, Michael whispered to her...

"We have gone through many things together. I just want you to know, I consider myself lucky for being your friend. "
