Lately I've been playing two characters, mainly. Unless it's just a random person I make up. >_> But I think it's better to focus on a 3-dimensional being, neh?
>>Later Edit: I notice she's disturbingly similar to me. XD I usually play characters the extreme opposite of myself... But... it's funny how parts of yourself creep into your writing...
Life/History: Avaline. Her last name changes. It's usually Margery. Unless I forget that and then it's some other random thing. She's a waitress at a cafe/book shop. Kind of a new age type place... The boss is an effeminate bald man who likes poetry and keeping shop open all night and shouting orders at his staff, but is the kind of guy who lets them eat whatever they want for free and have unlimited coffee and whatnot... so he's secretly nice. She has worked there for five years... since she was young, but she basically made a deal with her boss to keep up with the other girls and do her work, and he wouldn't tell the authorities that she wasn't old enough to work. For the first eight years of her life, she was raised by her grandparents who were pretty old. Eventually they were told old to care for her, she lived with her mother and one of a string of her boyfriends, neither of whom were home often and when they were, they were not paying much attention to Ava. But she is not the type to go around complaining about her life, so she made the best of it which is what her grandparents taught her. She moved into her own apartment, which is very very small, at sixteen.
She has always been independent and a hard worker. She has a great love for books and is probably sexually attracted to them because she does not have any interest in dating despite the fact that she claims she is not shy at all. She works full time and has since she finished high school and never really considers college seriously because of finances. She writes literature but does not think she would be good enough to actually make that a career.
She knows of the existence of vampires due to a deep friendship with one when she was quite young, around the age of nine to about twelve, though she has since lost contact with him because he grew too afraid he would accidentally harm her. He was her first love and she often wonders if maybe he was meant to be her soul mate and she lost her chance.
Personality: Bold and stronger than she seems. She is contemplative, but not shy, and enjoys to have contact with others. She is not afraid to express herself and seems to brush off criticism rather easily, though she is not offensive or rude so she rarely faces it. She is a hard worker and is determined to make a good life unlike her parents before her. She is willing to help others as well as long as they prove to be trustworthy. Often she can be a bit of a dreamer and drift off into thoughts of a life she would rather be living. But she's not stupid; it's only a short escape from an often troubling world.
The only thing she is shy about seems to be romance. She does not really think she is "girlfriend" material and too nerdy and weird. So she keeps to herself most of the time. It suits her well enough, though she does get pretty lonely.
I ADORE Talking to unimportant strangers about important things, strolling at night and staring up at the sky, city life equally as an escape into nature, the fantasy idea of true love (though she does not really believe in it), and borrowing an obscene amount of books from the library at one time.
I DESPISE Thunderstorms, litterbugs, rude customers at the cafe she works at, perverted old men, and people who try to force her into 'reality'.
