Of Being a Comm Device, and Readying the Dragonfly
Rose and Being a Communication Device...

As Lord Avondale explained, Rose's magical tie would be the only link to the outside of Wynn to the inside, and Rose would have to send down commands. She would also be able to relay back from Shal and Wolf to Lord Avondale. This was going to be interesting.

Before they were ready to go, though, Rose caught a look from Wolf. She smiled back. He seemed to have been saying 'thank you for letting me protect Shal'. She was starting to think that maybe Wolf was a good enough guy for her niece. But that thought had her head swirling in a dozen other directions, as well. Like, how on Gaia did she end up with a grand-niece! And she was starting to feel old and alone- everyone she knew had a few kids or heck, Dragon now had a grandchild. She knew she was a bit younger than most of them, but it was starting to feel odd. Like she was everyone's favorite spinster aunt or something. She saw how Wolf and Shal looked at each other, reminiscing about their time in that other world. It made her wish she had someone to spend her time with-

"Hey! No!" Rose frowned and quietly barked at Wolf and Shal, catching the tail end of a sulty-sounding conversation. "Lord Avondale just said I can feel what you are doing down there, and if there is any funny stuff, and I meanany, I will make you two sorry you ever left that strange world. Got it?"

She shook her head and covered her face with one hand. This was going to be a very interesting mission indeed.

Taran Readying the Dragonfly

As Taran agreed to allow Flan to use his eyes as her own, he quickly led her and n** around to the back of the house and quickly into the kitchen. He opened the secret door to the basement- certain he could trust those with him- and started downstairs. He made sure not to go too fast, and to allow Flan to follow right behind him, lest she lose her footing on the spiral tower staircase that went down over three stories.

Once in the basement, ANTIE's main screen came up, and though ANTIE-D was upstairs, she did not alert Rose. Taran was on the list of approved for anything. Anything except stealing Rose's ship. And Rose was busy, not to be disturbed.

Taran ran over to the computer panel and checked. Sadly, he could see where Rose had specifically mentioned he was not to "borrow without permission" Rose's ship again.

"Hold on, ladies. I will need a few minutes to... take care of a permissions issue." he told Flan and n**. "You can take a seat on the couch for now, if you'd like."

Taran spent the next few minutes multi-tasking. It took some fine doing, but he finally was able to put in that Rose had agreed to facilitate this mission in any way she could, and that said conversation had taken place while he and Lord Avondale were in the study. Since ANTIE's systems in that room were shorted out, and Rose was, for some unknown reason, not to be disturbed at the moment, ANTIE's systems finally approved access to the Dragonfly, Rose's firefly class spaceship.

"Great!" Taran said, having the automated system fill it with fuel. "We'll be ready to go in no time." he told Flan and n**.

Taran
I might be able to match you, Sir. But your skills with technology are quite legendary, as are your degrees in multiple fields of science and medicine. I specialize more in magic than technology, and usually only use it as a last resort, with things outside of the influence of magic.

... wow. Taran talks a lot.

Flan: <Thanks for the use of the eyes, but-- >

n**: You're rather strong for an old woman and I think I can walk on my own.

Flan: <Mosquito, you may be one of the undead, but do not mistake your weaknesses. >
