Weeellll, after much nagging, my parents finally agreed that, seeing as how the Stae of Wisconsin now recognizes me as a certified operator of class D motor vehicles, a cell phone is a wise investment. Observe:

Ranwen: Hi, Mom?

Ranwen's Mom: Yes, shcnookums?

Ranwen: I just felt the need to assure you that I have arrived safely at Rain's house, and that no one died in the process.

R's Mom: That's just super, honey!!

Ranwen: Isn't it though? And it's all possible because you and Father dearest were gracious enough to provide me with such a convenient means of communication, 'cause if I could't call you every half an hour, you'd probably send out a search party, the Fire Department and twentysome bloodhounds.

R's Mom: Yer damn right, sweetie.

Pssh, like my mom would ever actually call me any of that xp ...

But, yeah. I definitely appreciate being able to call home when I miss the bus or have to stay after school for something or go somewhere...etc. And the license is a pleasant development as well. Now all I need is some disposable income sweatdrop ...
