Madness Spout: The Irrational Rantings of Crazy Mar
Hitherto, hitherthro, wherever you and I shall go.
When Things Turn Out Better Than Expected
heart ... Autumn leaves fall and are swept out of sight ...

When I woke up yesteray morning my folks had the radio on - as usual - and I heard that for the local radio station it was "Choosey Tuesday", in which people could call or txt the songs they wanted played. Normally I'm not a song-request person, but today I thought I'd give it a bash by txt-requesting Anthony Warlow's version of Music of the Night and signing it off as "For a friend, Anon." My actual intention for requesting the song - despite the fact that I have it and other versions of him singing it on record - was to see if there would be anyone in my region who would react to it and become / confess to being a fan of Anthony Warlow.

You have no idea how hard it is to find like-minded people in country towns.

Some time later the station played Music of the Night - but it was Michael Crawford! In a rage I stormed back to my room and txted: "No! No! Wrong one! That is Michael bloody Crawford, not Anthony Warlow! Do not torture us with this drival!" Once the txt was sent I could hear my mother complaining about Crawford and complimenting Warlow, and then heard something else which shocked me: My father agreed!

"He sings this like a woman, whereas that other bloke sings it like a MAN."

Overjoyed at this miraculous and unexpected sense of victory I rejoined them in the kitchen in time to hear the song suddenly fade off before its end. The radio presenter then explained that a request had been sent in for that song by Anthony Warlow, but the station had received a txt soon after the song began; they read my txt word for word and deeply apologised!

With this second victory under my hat ((and to the sounds of my mother laughing like a hyena about the situation, unaware that this was all my doing)) I called up the radio station and asked if they actually HAD his rendition. Hearing no, I immediately offered to send them a copy of a CD that has it, got their details and proceeded to burn ... purposefully neglecting to mention that I also intended to send them copies of ALL of his albums to arm themselves for future requests.

IN CONCLUSION: My small attempt at finding other fans with just one track has lead me to sharing as much material as I can that can be played by any request in the future, which could result in a lot more conversions / confessions than originally intended, and all thanks to one horrid mistake of playing Michael Crawford's ghastly rendition!

EPILOGUE: Since posting that story on proboards, two people responded saying they wanted to find out who he was and decided to Google him. I'm counting that as a bonus. ^}_^

... So are the memories of love that we knew ... heart

HAHA! Man, that's awesome.
And they read it word for word, too. Nice one, Marie!
