My Book's first little chapter
CHAPTER ONE: HORRIBLE MORNING

I woke up late one morning... really late. Later then I'd expected. It wasn't my fault, the cell phone that held the annoying alarm that woke me up every single day of my teenage life, had died last night. So, instead of waking up to "Who Are You?" by the Who, I awoke to a terrible dirge that included my mother singing "Sunshine, You Are My Sunshine" while she poked and scooted me off the bed. This was no ordinary day.
"I'm up! I'm up," I yawned, half asleep. I pulled the warm cocoon of bed dressings away from my still sleeping body. Burr, I thought, Dad must have had the AC on all night again. My feet were being slowly tugged against their will, out of the bed. I sat up, and looked at myself in the mirror. My eyes were squinted and baggy.
"Get up, quickly, Leah! Do you know what time it is?" My mother nagged. When I didn't respond to her question, she yelled, "It's twelve 'o clock!" We are going to be late for Ruth's Christmas get-together! It starts at one!"
Oh snap! I had totally forgotten that we were going to that. My legs jumped out of bed and I grabbed my shower towel that was hanging off my door handle. I would have ran to the shower, but my legs wouldn't move fast enough. As soon as the water came pouring down from the shower, my clothes were off, and I was in the tub.
The hot, pressured water felt like a nice massage on my back. The steam was inhaled through my nose and out through my mouth. Okay, I thought, I'm now ready for whatever my day brings me. I washed every single inch of my body, including under my finger nails then, i got out and dried myself off. I wrapped the towel around my head like the Arabic's do and ran down the hall to my messy, cluttered room. I don't think I can even remember what the color of the carpet was. Oh, well.
I grabbed a pair of ripped, dark blue, skinny jeans, a band T-shirt, and my black combat boots that make people stair at me as if I was mental or something. I might be mental because all of my friends ask me weird questions like: "Why don't your clothes match?" , or "Is bleach blonde your natural color?" , or "Why do you have to carry hand sanitizer around with you everywhere you go?" Sometimes people will walk up to me and ask "Do you ride the short bus to school?"
Well, I like to ware things that don't match. Yes, bleach blonde is my natural hair color. Why don't you carry around hand sanitizer? And, no, I don't ride the short bus to school. I have to walk, thank you very much.
Anyways, I ran back out of my room to the bathroom again, threw on some eyeliner and lipstick, brushed my teeth and hair... at the same time, and ran back into my room and shut the door. I looked at myself in the mirror one last time, and realized that my shoulder-length, blonde hair was all screwed up. Oh, well, I thought to myself, I'm just going to have to deal with it! I flung my purse over my shoulder and practically knocked myself in the head.
"HURRY UP, LEAH!" I heard my mom call.
"Okay. Give me a sec." I hollered back. I tackled my door open and ran for the car. As soon as i got in, my mom, Debi, revved up the engine and took off. I watched the house float away on a sea of pavement.
A few hours into the silent drive I thought about turning on the radio. It was too quiet, and I knew my mother was scheming on a plan to yell at me the next chance she got. You see, she hates being late to things, and I always put a setback in her plans to be early. I try not to, but when we have to go somewhere my mother wants to go, an inconvenience as simple as my phone dying, always happens. Then, Debi always ends up lecturing me at the end of the day.
About half-way through the ride, I decided to turn on the radio. I turned the station to a classic rock station. It wasn't playing anything I recognized, so I changed it to a Christian rock station, that my mom and I listen to all the time. Her and I basically knew all the words to all the songs that they played. My stomach grumbled. I remembered that I didn't eat breakfast yet. I was really craving some frosted flakes right now!
