The Day
She never thought this day would come. She had though that she was doomed to forever exist alone in the world with no one else. That is until "HE" found her and showed her a world unknown to her.
All his life he's waited for this day, yearning for it. Unlike typical men he dreamed of this day long before his fateful encounter with "HER". Now he was here anxious and waiting. 'It seems like only yesterday...' she thinks to herself; looking back on their fateful encounter. Unbeknownst to her that "HE" is thinking the same. 'Oh I remember it so vividly' thinks he to himself; remembering the way the scene looked embedded into his mind.
It was a late autumn day sometime in October. The leaves, a pantheon of color before him. He was out with his dog just enjoying the twilight after a long school day. Then he saw her.
She had run home after school to escape the torrent of her life. Unable to run directly home, she ran to the outer most corner of the park. Hardly anyone ever went there so it was the perfect place to hide; or so she thought. She sat there in her tree, alone in her thoughts when she heard a dogs barking in the distance. 'Who in the world brings their dog through here?' she thought.
"Whoa boy! slow down!" exclaimed Demetri. His dog tugged him further through the park into an area where hardly anyone ever trod. 'Great now it'll take forever to get home.' "Thanks a lot Diego we're going to take forever getting home now." exclaimed Demetri. Then he heard a small gasp from above and looked up.
'Oh my gosh! I recognize that voice' thought Anya to herself. 'Please don't look up here, please don't look up here' Anya pleaded silently. She let out a small gasp at the realization that Demetri Conners one of the most popular boys in her junior high school class was standing right beneath her.
Unfortunately for her he had heard her gasp. Slowly he lifted his head and there above him was Anya. She was probably the quietest most outcast person in the entire junior class. Why exactly; he could never understand. He had always thought of her as beautiful, intelligent, and soft spoken. Now here she was so close to him and still yet so far.
"Uh…Hello" spoke Anya softly. She was still kind of surprised at this encounter. “Hello” Demetri answered, “lovely weather isn’t it?” he asked. “I suppose so.” Anya replied in a voice that sounded sweet as honey to Demetri. “Would you like to come down and walk with me for a while?” Demetri asked shyly. “Um…ok” said Anya, a slight blush on her cheeks.
Anya skirted back to the trunk of the tree in preparation for getting down. But as she looked down she realized that she had no way of getting down, she was stuck. “Um…I’m sorry but it looks like I cannot join you Demetri.”. “May I inquire as to why not?” asked Demetri. “Simple, I climbed up this tree without realizing I cannot get down, so therefore I am stuck.” Explained Anya. “Well then I must fix that.” Said Demetri, tying his dogs leash around the tree. “Would like some company up there with you seeing as you cannot get down?”. “Why that would be lovely.” Said Anya, and from there one thing led to another. Until finally, four years later, they were ready to be joined together for the rest of their lives.
Anya walked down the aisle music swirling around her and the perfect image of a blushing bride. She walked slow and steady to the rhythm of the march being played. At the end of the aisle stood Demetri. He was clad In a pure white tuxedo and was absolutely glowing with happiness towards his future wife. In Anya’s mind it he was the only one she saw.
Demetri gazed down the aisle waiting for the music to start. When it finally did start he was not disappointed. The moment the music started, the doors were opened and in walked Anya. She was gorgeous, her hair and makeup done perfectly. Her hair was flowing down her back strewn with curls and ornaments to give it extra touch. Her makeup wasn’t over done or under done, it was just right, and her natural blush only made her more beautiful. In Demetri’s mind it was as if an angel had descended from heaven to be with him.
Anya finished her walk down the aisle and Demetri took her hand. He led her up the steps to the priest then all went silent. Anya and Demetri felt the other slip the ring on their finger, heard each other say, “I do”, and kissed each other like no other couple before at the end. In that moment they both knew that their lives were complete and would never need changing.
