Once upon a time, there was a gypsy, who would pray all night to the Moon for a husband. The Moon answered her prayer and said, "You will have your man, but in return, I want your first-born child to be given to me."
A couple of months later, the child was born. But it turns out that the child's skin color does not match his father's, but instead it's white like the back of an ermine and has gray eyes. The gypsy's husband automatically assumes that his wife cheated on him, and slept with someone else. Outraged, he grabs a knife and kills her. After killing her, he grabs the infant and carries it to the top of a mountain and abandons it.
The child then rises up into the sky by the moon, and on nights when the moon is full, the child is happy. When the child cries, the moon will wane to make him a cradle.
