There has been ongoing account drama for me lately. It makes me sad.

Back when I took my hiatus from Gaia, everything was peaceful and quiet for a while. A few months later, I noticed I started getting emails all the time saying that there had been multiple log-in attempts on my account. Basically, someone, or multiple someones, had noticed that my account was inactive, and had been inactive for an extended period of time. They decided to try to access the account by trying random passwords, etc. Usually, everytime these would start up, I'd log in and change my PW. I suppose since the person/people who were trying to get in noticed I'd been online recently, the log in attempts would stop for a while.

Once I came back to Gaia full-force, there were no more log in attempts. Yay!

The first time the attempts started happening, I was getting multiple emails a day. I noticed at the bottom of the email, there was a note saying that if the problems persisted, I could contact Gaia about it. I did, thinking there was some sort of measure they took when these problems happened often. Instead, I was told that I shouldn't have picked my user name, and that if I had a diferent name, I wouldn't have this problem. WUT?!? >:O

I didn't bother replying to the email, and forgot about things until I came back. I mean, the emails stopped, right?

Shortly after coming back, though, I noticed that there were times I'd try to log in, and it would say my password was invalid. At first It hought maybe I was just spelling somthing wrong, or wasn't using CAPS in the right places. (Kids, it's always a good idea to mix up your CAPS and add numbers in random places to every password! People thinking my password is just going to be somthing Hellsing-related are idiots biggrin )
I noticed soon after, though, even when I was 100% certain that I was typing it in correctly, it was kicking back as the wrong PW. At this point, I started freaking out and thought I was being hacked while I was trying to log in. It didn't make sense! I play WoW, so I'm very very very careful about keyloggers, viruses, etc. I don't sign my info in on weird scamming sites, and I change my PW all the time!!

Sometime around this time, I found out about the system bug that confuses similar names. Since then, I have had to log in with my user number, and that solved that problem.

Every time somthing little like this would happen, I wouldn't consider it a big deal. I'd adjust and go on with my happy Gaia life. The month before last, though, I noticed an MC letter dissappeared. I bought one with paypal along with a little bit of gaia cash. The letter never showed up. I thought at first that I'd sold it or opened it or somthing and just never noticed. I was irked, but I ignored it because I thought it was an error on my part.

I purchased my October sealeds the same way, though, and they went missing too!! This time, I knew it wasn't me, so I submitted a form asking for assistance. Gaia was very helpful in tracking down my letters. It turns out the bug had claimed them! They were sent to another user with a name similar to mine. I'm not entirely sure which one, but I'm fairly certain it was [Integral], and not any of the Integrals with numbers after them. Gaia gave me my letters back, told me they found them on another Integral, and suggested I change my name to avoid this happening in the future.

I don't want to change my name!! This is the second time Gaia has asked me to change my name. I'm sad, because I registered with this one in 2003, and I don't want to find somthing different. I shouldn't have to change my name because of this bug. I'm not the one using the illegal characters. Gaia put a stop on this bug from happening anymore in the future to OTHER users by forbidding those characters from being used in the name creation process in the future, but they haven't fixed the ongoing problem still happening with users now. crying

The easy answer?? Don't donate to Gaia anymore!
If I'm not buying MCs with paypal, I'm free of the threat of the glitch happening again! (which it surely will)

When I buy gaia cash through paypal, it arrives no problem, though. I don't understand it. I could always buy cash, and then get the MC with that, instead of ordering the MC at the same time. Or.. I could buy cash cards at a store and redeem the code for my cash. That has worked in the past too. The members of GCD have suggested I just make some mule with a weird name that won't be confused with any others, and buy my MCs with the mule... but who knows if it would go to the right integral if I tried to gift/trade it? hahaha

Anyway, this whole situation is fairly frustrating sad I just wish the glitch/bug/programming error/whatever it is was fixed. I don't have an offensive name, or a name that violates TOS. I don't want to change it!
