um...
Sorry for stirring this up again
but i get gold for the rough drafts i put here. I'm going to print out flyers and wedge them into that crack on doorways. At least I hope I get to, depends if the others decided to join in or not, plusi have to print out the maps and figure out the quickest way to cover the ground...anyway, rought draft, need something brief and and anything personal must be left out since those who are currently voting against us aren't ones to care for personal stuff.

Common misconceptions of prop 8.

"It will protect religion"
-False, church and state are seperate. No religious institution can legally be forced to perform a ceremony that goes against its beliefs. The court ruling that legalized gay marriage didn't force churches to change their beliefs. The Government does not force religion to share what is legal to become something that religion must believe. If Government ever did, then the Klu Klux Klan would have ceased to exist by now, but it still remains. Surely if that group has extreme beliefs, then it's safe to say Government won't attack beliefs.

"It will protect marriage"
-How do same-sex couples harm marriage? If it's a not discrimination based argument supporting the belief that gays harm marriage, then surely, something other than love must be involved. But having children can't be the argument either, as we would then have to ban infertile people from marrying, and possibly force divorce upon elderly couples when they become infertile. That would be wrong, and unfair since we know that individuals marry for love. It's why a wedding is done as a ceremony when two individuals make vows, instead of the marriage being celebrated at a baby shower, or upon the day of the childs birth.

"Gay marriage will be taught in schools"
-I don't recall being taught straight marriage when I was in school, why would same-sex marriage be taught? And since never has a school been supported by government to teach something obscene, obviously nothing innappropriate will be taught. Proposition 8 is the proposition offering a change, how will voting no on this change something? The court ruling had nothing to do with education, proposition 8 won't preserve education since it will remain as is regardless of weither or not it passes.

The only thing this propisition is concerned with is taking same-sex couples right's away. Everyone who currently does, will still be allowed to believe marriage is between a man and a woman through their marriage. But proposition 8 has nothing good about it, its message is bigoted and will risk children growing up using offensive slurs such as "f**" and it will preach hatred towards a minority that has been discriminated against long enough. Don't vote yes on prop 8, it's a direct insult to say that gays don't deserve the same respect straights already have. Vote no on prop 8.
