Goodbye
I knew at once something was wrong,
The love in your eyes was gone.
I'm sorry, you slowly say,
Sorry it has to end this way.
You say we were not right,
You knew that from all the fights.
You say, you still love me,
But we as a couple can never be.
I see you and hear your words,
But in my mind, they are all slurred.
I wait for the pain i know I should feel,
But instead I heart in ice is sealed.
You lean in and gently kiss my lips,
Ignoring the tears that down my cheeks slip.
You calmly, softly whisper goodbye,
Then turn and walk quickly away with a sigh.
Of all my loves, I loved you the best,
And you hurt me more than all the rest.
I watch you go with tear filled eyes,
then hug myself, hang my head, and finally cry.
