I am the silence after a gunshot.
The sound of a body hitting the floor.

I am the clinking of prisoner's chains,
Who can hear me as one of their own, shouting, "No more!"

I am the calm before the storm
And the roar it makes when it starts.

I am the quiet after a couple's loving kiss
Only to be the shattering of their broken hearts.

I am the yells of a hostage for mercy
As well as her screams when she is beaten.

I am the last words of a dying man
Also his last second of breathing.

I am the singing of the hopeful slaves
But I am also their cries when they felt the whip in a Lord's hand.

I am the triumphant yells of the greedy
Then I arrive as the Devil's laugh when he came for the damned.

I am the Sound of the Earth, who took care to be sure
That I'm very busy, busier than Water or Air.

I'm not hard to find, but don't try looking with your eyes,
For though you can't see me, I am always there.
