Journaling News
Feel you never know what's going on? Been off gaia and want to ketch up. Well welcome to Jounaling news. A easy to follow up to date news from gaia.
Charities

A new, hip thing, that has flooded the quest/charity forum. Charities are a good idea, don't get me wrong. They help struggling Gaians that have killer quests. There is a downside. Some charities are not created on a steady foundation. A charity isn't a fun loving thing you jump into thinking "I'm helping" no, a charity has to be the height of design, wit, and maturity. Not everyone can open a charity. I suggest a charity owner not only have at least two other joint owners but also a year of being on Gaia. It's kind of hard to be helping Gaians when you yourself need some help. Now there are some exceptions, as there is in about everything I say but I have learned after a year, a Gaian gets enough lay of the land to actually move throughout Gaia without question.
And what is this five million charities popping up every second. 'If your questing for wings come here' 'If your new come here' 'if you like pink monkeys come here'. OK can we please have five solid charities and everyone just be a member and donate when they can instead of creating a charity that will be gone in six months. I understand if you want to have your own and hold the honor of having a charity. But can you get over yourself for one second and realize that no matter if you have a charity made by you or made by another the gold will still get to someone who needs it!
Charities, I know you don't want scammers coming in and constantly trying to get gold out of you but could you please not make users get a quest thread to prove there intentions. I know it's one of the best way to go about it but everyone has to have one to get gold on your charity. If you think 'hey it’s the best way to screen these people' all I can say is...It's one of the best ways but there is others. You could make the user give five or more accounts as character witnesses. Then PM them to prove the users intentions. You could easily check there profile, or create a mule to stalk them XP. I'm not saying that these are the best or better than expecting them to make quest threads but you could at least give them a choice. I know when I quest, I don't have time for a quest thread, I'm loyal to other obligations and I can't be posting on a thread mindlessly to reach charities obligations! So I never got help from charities, unless I went in and chatted with the owner (which is much more fun then a stupid quest thread) and the owner understood I was loyal to my quest without a thread. Now all of you questers....maybe, you could, you know, do that to!
I know some people questing just don't know how to go about it. Here is some pointers. When I'm trying to find a charity that will help me I first go in and check out the layout of the thread. Yes, the layout, Does it look nice? Is it organized? If it is then I check how much people they have helped/ the waiting list. If the helped list is long I then know that this owner had been helping for a while and knows how the system works. Then I check the requirements. If I fit them or I can fit them in a short time then I proceed to the rules. Yes read through the rules you weirdoes! Read through the rules on everything, they will help you! After it all I check out the form... If it’s killer long and have hidden words in like 'I like monkeys' then I don't go for it. It's to screen users that don't read everything and I don't want to be treated like a kid. If it's a very nice charity and I know it can help me out I might drop to that level but I can get gold by myself without being treated like a cheater without even talking to the charity owner.
Another thing... please talk with the charity owners or mods of the charity, I know the thread might not be moving that fast and it's hard to ketch them but if you really want gold, get to know your donators. Don't forget to come back say hello once in a while because it's nice. They like seeing what they did and see you happy.
All in all if you want to open a charity at least be a member of one for just a while before you go off. Have more than 50k willing to be given to those in need, and have a partner. Please don't be so harsh on rules and request forms, I’m not filling out my tax refund form, we shouldn't be getting stressed out that it might be filled out wrong. Questers, research your charities before you go off and beg for gold. I think the quest/charity forum needs some major organization...but what forum doesn't.

Anywho, I think I'm closing my charity, I just don't have the time to bump it alot, and I'm not going to expect anyone else to do it. I'll just have to close it during my quest!
