This poem was given to a friend for her birthday. I have no idea if it is actually real information. All I know was that I was thinking of the song "Edelweiss" in The Sound of Music that day when I wrote it.
As the sun rose from begin the white mountains
And gave light to the world with its soft golden glow
Chasing the night away, chasing its only foe
It gave life to everything upon the mountain
She was the one who rose first out of the cold ground
Stretching her arms to catch every soft way of sun
She opened her eyes and stared at the distant sun
And she looked at the world rising without a sound
Yet this day promised to be the same as others
Alone in the mountain, away from her sisters
Away from the world of the living, from the lies
Her skin was pale as the white snow surrounding her
She was much more beautiful than any other
For she was a blossom of snow, an edelweiss
I was having a sonet time, when I wrote this. So, naturally, it's a sonet. I don't know what it is with sonets, but I suppose its that "definitive" form that I like, how it is always the same. I used sonets in my novel...
