There's a certain point in every persons life when they realize they are on thier own. For some it could be the day they move out of the family home, for others, thier first day of taxes. Mine came in several occurences. the first was the night i spent sleeping on a friend's doorstep, waiting the morning when i could ask him if i could move in. I didn't sleep much, mostly because of the rather cold conditions. It wasn't snowing or anything, but the chill crept into my very flesh and dwelt there until the next morning, my friend woke up planning ot go to school and found my there sleeping. the second occurence was when i took my first plane ride, unaccompanied by my family. it was a 3 hour flight to boot camp, 3 months after i'd signed up for the Navy. The thrid was when i was in Bahrain, my first deployment. everything was written in squiggly lines with english subtitles. it was a major cultor shock when it used to be the other way around. The most recent cause was today. I just came off of leave, the military equivalent to vacation. It was over christmas and i'd accumulated a large amount of debt... large for me at least. My estimations are that i'll have everything paid off enough to where i'll be getting at least some of my paycheck in about...6 months. of course, that might seem like nothing to some adults who are in debt higher than the stratosphere, but to me, who never had anything but disposable income, i've realized how ulgy this world might be. And so i leave you with this little bit of information: money is all nice and good, especially when you get things, but don't make the same mistake i did. don't tell your parents and expect anything other than a laugh in your face. Because, to you, $3000 of debt may seem like a ton of money, but to most other people its a drop in an already overflowing bucket.
