Everyone knows there are milestones that tell you you're getting older. Sweet 16, Legal to vote and drink 18, key to the town 21, midway through your 20s 25, Christ where did the time go 30 etc.

But no one tells you about the other indicators. You know like when you're watching the Olympics and realise that you're older than the gymnastic team - which admittedly wasn't that hard back in the 80's because they were all about 12 rolleyes . But then next Olympics you were older than most of the swim team and then the next Olympics you realised that the only people on your country's squad who might be older than you are in the lawn bowl or equestrian teams. lol

Or when you're favourite footballer, who is the same age as you are, retires last year because he's gotten too old for the game and his back and knees are killing him.

But it happened yesterday, it finally happened, the one thing I have been dreading for a while.

They announced the new actor to play the Doctor in my favourite tv show ever and guess what . . . HE'S ONLY 26!!!!!! gonk

The guy playing the 900+ year old alien is younger than I am!

In fact I was watching the show before he was even born! I'm old!!!!! *

I almost had this dilemma with David Tennant, who is only 3 years older than I am, but it wouldn't have been as horrific because he looks mature and lets face it ladies, ******** dead sexy. mrgreen But Matt Smith looks like a child! Okay maybe not a child, but still he looks young.

I will be intrigued to see how his character pans out, old guy in a young man's body and if the Doctor thought it was annoying having his companions throwing themselves at him now, think how bad it will be when he only looks 27ish.

The future will, hopefully, be interesting.
