Animal Crossing: City Folk

When I bought my very first true Nintendo console, the Game cube, my father purchased a game called Animal Crossing to go with it. It was cute, simple, and relaxing: just what the doctor ordered for 2nd grader after a long, hard day of recess. wink I played the game for hours, upgraded my house, and caught all the fish, insects and fossils. I was even a regular for Copper's summer morning aerobics.

Now I've upgraded to a Wii, and decided to upgrade my Animal Crossing game along with it. As one might expect, the newer version came with some improvements (but not many) and left out a few things that needed improving.

The Good
:

The City - From being able to have regular visits to Katrina, getting your hair done, and watching a movie, the city has it all. Or almost all. While I love getting my shoes shined and bothering Lyle, there are a few more stores I would have liked to see there.

The Windmill - While this building does pretty much nothing, it's so cool! Omigawdilovewindmillsandyaaay.

The Recycling Bin - Because the dump just wasn't good enough

Breeding Flowers - I seriously spend at least an hour everyday watering all of my flowers. It's fun and really soothing. Plus I must get those allusive blue roses!

The Fountain - Is it just me or does every game with an axe have a point in said game where you throw said axe into a fountain and get a better axe in return?

The Point System (Hero's Clothes/Cap) - I love Link, and now I can look like him. Yay.

The Museum - Is huge. It's like having the Chattanooga Aquarium in my basement. And Blathers is lol-worthy. Adding on an observatory and cafe was brilliant, and K.K. Slider is the bomb-a-licous. Mmmhm.

The Yellow Bird - Cute and functional. What more do you need?

The Bad:

Running Errands - In previous games, you were capable of actually asking the villagers to run errands for them. In this game, you cannot. Ugh.

Silver Items - While it is true that, yes, I did feel special getting my silver watering can and shovel, some of these items just seem pointless to me. Like the rod and net and etc.

Money Trees - I remember when getting a money tree was simple: find the golden spot, bury some bells, wait and tah-dah! Three bags of 99,000 bells. Alas, the era of the Money Tree is at its end, for I no longer plant them. It's got too much math and probability for me handle.

The Wishing Well - I miss it. It was all mystical and bubbly, plus that gnome looking guy showed up when you obeyed it. And it actually told me which acre to plant the trees and such in. Which brings me to my next point:

The Map: I want acres! Please. They were so easy to use; why are they gone? Whyyyyy? crying

Anywho. I enjoy the game, and you should too!
