Scarlet Soul_part 5
There was noise…noise that circled her very sensitive ears. The noise contained words, but those words were simply, almost inaudible and like scrambled in her head. All she could do was to sense and open her eyes to see…

Sairene heard the noise again, yet it was now clearer and more understandable to hear. She could hear a group of voices that argued regarding on some matter which in that case, couldn’t make mind comprehend. And so, to get related, she stood up and she put her right hand on her head.

“What happened?” She asked lowly, but it seemed no one has heard her and that made her stare at those owners of the voice.

“I TOLD YOU WE SHOULD HAVE KILLED HER!!” A young yet husky voice was heard.

“We can’t. I still have something for her to do to us.” The other one said, which was a little gentle and sadistic at the same time.

“But my love. She hurt you, and lack of sleep wasn’t really making you good. You’re losing vitamins.” The other said, with a deep yet caring voice.

“I agree with him.” The other one, rather different from the other three, seconded.

“Still, no one will kill her unless I say so.” Then the argument was closed. When the vampire turned around, he saw Sairene’s pale face looking at them. “So, our dearest guest was now awake.”

Sairene wasn’t able to reply due to fear.

“Oh…our poor little girl who trespasses our palace cannot speak. Didn’t I just hear you say sorry three days ago?”

Three days ago? I slept that long? Sairene asked herself with astonishment. She lowered her head as she was being mocked by the vampire. She kept silent.

“Hmph. Such impudence young lady and I won’t tolerate it. Tell me your name.”

Sairene hesitated first, but the fear of being bitten nor harmed by these vampires made her spoke. “My…name…is…Sairene Silverhart, sir.”

“Hmmm…Silverhart eh? I’ve heard that name before. Am I right, my love?” The other vampire asked the vampire who inquired her name as he snaked his arms around the other vampire’s neck.

“Yes, yes…I knew that…” The vampire replied as he caressed the arms of the other vampire. Then, he detached himself from the embrace and he continued, “And…that name was one of the…” He paused and approached Sairene who wasn’t even moving from her position, and grabbed her chin slightly with force. He continued, “…one of the notable human races who killed lots of vampires and angels last decade.”

With the grip starting to tighten around her chin, Sairene sobbed and tears flowed down to her cheeks. She tried to speak, “Please…let…me…go…”

“And how could we do that? You’re like a jackpot to us, young Sairene. We could have you hostage to the human empire and have revenge with them.”

“No…please…”

“I’m sorry, young lady. But, it seems that your fate met our revenge. Your fate was to be here with us in order for us to strike revenge.”

“…please…I beg…you…don’t make me…a…hostage…”

“Say what again?”

“I am…begging you…sire…don’t…”

The grip was now on Sairene’s neck, “And WHAT made you think that I’ll back OUT?!”

Sairene choked out and coughed for air. The vampire’s grip was like putting her to the deathbed. “Because…I…am…not…a part…of…what…you said…killings…”

The grip of the vampire loosened a bit but still holding Sairene’s neck, “What do you mean?”

Sairene was now turning blue and her hands were now reaching the gripping hands of the vampire. “Please…release me…first…”

And the vampire complied. “Now, tell me!”

“I may be a Silverhart, but I never had any of the killing missions just like of what my parents and siblings does.” Sairene explained and she coughed terribly.

The vampire’s eyebrows twitched in annoyance, “How could you say that?! YOU’RE A SILVERHART!”

“It’s because I don’t want it…and I’m not even a true blooded Silverhart.”

“You’re…adopted?”

“Yes.”

The vampire was lost in thought. He was already confused of what Sairene has told him. How can this girl reach their palace if she’s not a Silverhart? And how could she be a Silverhart if she’s not killing? If she’s not killing, how could she stand up as a child of a vampire killer? And if she’s not a vampire killer…who was she? Those were the common questions that circled into the vampire’s mind. And it gave him the headaches.

He turned away and said, “GUARDS! Be sure this girl is locked securely in the dungeon! Make sure that there would be three or four guards watching this insolent girl!”

“YES SIR!”

Then, the vampire turned back to Sairene whose hands was now being put in handcuffs, “We’re not yet finished, young lady.” He whispered.

All could Sairene do was to sob, as she was being taken away.
