Rose's Journal.
Whatever I may write, whatever I may think. Whatever life throws at me, I will probably write in it.
Poetry
When you feel certain ways, you want to write them down. They don't always come out strait forward like I am happy, or I am sad, but you understand how they are feeling none-the-less. When you are happy your poetry will have happy things in it. If you are sad, your poetry will probably have to do with darkness or sorrow or pain. When you write about every day life, you read it over, and get that deja-vu feeling. Poetry explains feelings beyond what they really are. Poetry makes the feelings into a reality. Poetry can be someone's only way to express themselves. Poetry can mean so much more than words.
My definition of poetry:
feelings
deep thoughts
beauty
horror
beyond words...
There are so many ways to use poetry, there are no limits. All you need is feeling.

Nice idea, but I'm not so sure I agree with you. Poetry has never really been about feelings for me, anyway. Opinions sometimes, yeah, but I have written some dark stuff, one of which I put up on the Writing Arena
here in case you're interested, and I generally don't write them when I'm actually upset. I think poetry definitely conveys something more than words if it's done right (which I don't think my dark poem actually is), but it's often disconnected from actual feelings. I want to get a point across, yeah, but not necessarily a point about myself. Does that make any sense?

Oh, and another thought: The idea that all you need is feeling? Gonna have to definitely disagree with that. Sorry. But I've read "poems" full of feeling, and kind of left them mentally scarred--and not in a good way. The poet has to at least have some sort of talent or know how in order for him or her to create a poem. Otherwise it just becomes a bunch of words slapped down on paper and formatted to look like a poem. No one actually likes reading mind or "heart" vomit, haha. I think poetry may need one or more of you list of definitions, but in and of themselves, they're pretty useless.
