"Robert?" I said rubbing my fingers through my black hair
"Yeah sonny?"
"Um...you know what its like to be in love right...? well..."
Robert stroked his beard and smiled. Robert seriously reminded me of a skinnier version of Santa Claus, with the rosy cheeks,stub of a nose, and rimmed glasses.
"You want to know what its like when you meet someone special huh sonny?"
"Well...yeah! I mean...Ive just always sorta wondered."
Robert smiled,sat next to me and offered me orange sherbet ice cream in a waffle cone. I looked at the ice cream in awe. I had never been offered ice cream from anybody....not even my foster parents.
"Well sonny take it! Its my treat! Go on! Take it!"
I hesitated then took it from Robert. I looked at the ice cream as if it was 1 million dollars. I looked over at Robert who was smiling happily at me and then gestured me to eat it. I licked a tiny portion off the top of the ice cream, this ice cream was much better than i expected, way better than blow pops.
"Sonny you still want to hear what loves like?"
"Sure Robert."
"One of these day's sonny, you will find someone who is as talented and as bright witted as you and loves you for who you are....and from that day forward....your life would be complete."
I stared in awe at Robert's wise words....I suddenly realized that orange sherbet ice cream tasted sweeter than it had before.....
