Would you believe my eyes have bled today?
And through this time, my wondrous mouth
Run out of things to say.
But we're not here for my issues and reflection
Today we speak only to you.
You are sheltered and so selfish
You are kind-hearted and giving
But this will not do
For I am really an animal.
A beast who devours and does not look.
For so long, I thought these apologies
These seeming transgressions
Should go punished, for who is good without them?
I conclude that I don't see you, for all my accusation
Maybe you don't see me either
We'll stop. We'll go.
We'll wait, and in waiting, move forward.
Do we believe these hurts will be addressed?
Believe that we're still meant for the other
And all will work out even through distance?
Goodbye dreams we'd made together
So long familiarity
There is an empty space in my heart
But it does not feel as though it was ripped out
Like all the rest.
It was not violent, it does not bleed.
In fact, it is still warm
As though you've just left the bed.
Shall I mourn you when your side is cold?
Or is it appropriate to roll over, curl up-
Cry
While it's still so warm.
