Chapter 27- Fallen

I stared in shock as the dark lord was directly behind us. He had a smirk on his face, as if he had just won a huge battle.

"I was wondering where you two had run off to" He let out a low sarcastic laugh

"Why does it matter to you?!" I yelled at him, getting irritated.

"Hm. You ought to watch that mouth of yours." He looked at me, then looked at Maya.

"Still have nothing to say, my dear?" he tried to pat her head, but she hit the hand away, kicking him in the stomach, sending him to the floor.

"I have nothing to say to you" She replied back calmly as he stood up again.

"Hm." He suddenly looked into the room, giving a shocked look.

"What did you do!?" He must of been referring to dad's curse, and how we lifted it.

"We freed him from you" Maya spoke again. How was she always so calm?

'How are you so calm?!' I asked, glancing at her.

"You bitches! How dare you!" He cried, calling a group of guards.

Maya and I got ready to attack, she formed an ice spear as I thought of what animal to change into to attack, all the possibilities running through my head. The dark lord suddenly burst out in a laugh, only making me more pissed.

"I suggest you don't attack" He spoke as if he had some sort of secret to use agenst us

"Oh? And why not?" I asked, glaring at him

"Because I have something to my advantage."

He called some guards, as two came by running down the hallway. They emerged out from the dark lord's back, one holding a bloody Lin, and the other one holding a bloody Jason. I stared in shock, my eyes going wide at the sight of Lin and Jason and their state. I could feel the anger bubbling under my skin and my eyes beginning to water. It was bad enough that he tore my family to shreds, but now he attacked and threatened the men that my sister and I loved. I dragged my eyes away from Lin as I looked at the dark lord pull out his sword with a ugly smug look on his face.

"I don't think it will make you feel any better when I cut both their heads off will it?" He said.

I saw Maya flinch as he took a practice swing at Jason's head, only adding to the adrenaline that flowed through my veins. He was not going to hurt them.

The dark lord opened his mouth to speak again, but I could only hear mumble. My vision went blurry, blocking everything out of my mind as I stared at Lin's face, blinking every few minutes, almost as if I was passing out. It was like I had lost all control over my body as my mind. Maya suddenly moved in the direction of where dad was helping mom, nudging him by the looks of it. What was she doing? Weren't we supposed to be helping mom? I could feel the adrenaline running through my veins, making me think quicker, my eyes slightly widening at an idea that I just got. The dark lord opened his mouth again, screaming something that I couldn't make out, probably to Maya. I could feel my eyes searching around the room for something to distract the dark lord, with no avail. I looked back at Lin's state, adding more fuel to the adrenaline.

"WELL?! ANSWER ME OR YOUR LOVER BOY GETS HIS HEAD CHOPPED OFF!" screamed the dark lord, snapping me out of my thoughts. We had to do it now.

"I'll distract him." I called to Maya, not controlling my body anymore

"Candace, what's going through your head?!" Maya thought back, but I turned to her, my face still emotionless.

"Candace!" Maya screamed, causing me to pause for a short second, but getting my thoughts back on the line the next.

"What the-" the dark lord started.

I could feel my body heat up as if it was baking in a fire, causing me to take a few breaths. I could only feel anger, as if I could destroy the whole castle. The heat made my stomach lurch, as I felt like I was doing something wrong, yet right at the same time. I took a few steps towards the dark lord, causing him to take a few backwards. I let out a low chuckle as the dark lord looked horrified.

"How did you-"

"No time! Attack him while he's still distracted!" I answered back

She nodded and ran up to grab her ice spear, attacking the dark lord. It hit him in the shoulder and he cried out in pain. The guards were no where to be seen, as they were probably scared off for what ever reason. I quickly glanced at Lin and Jason, who were now lieing down. At least they weren't being held by the neck anymore. Maya pulled out her spear, knocking down a vase as she ran over to the boys, probably to heal them. I went to attack the dark lord, sending him energy blasts I never knew I could do. I was about to send him another one, but now the dark lord began fighting back, missing my head only by a few centimeters.

"Maya! Hold him down already!" I called, now dogging his attacks

Maya froze over the water that spilled from the vase she broke, causing him so slip and fall onto the ground. I almost wanted to laugh at the loud thump he made. Maya pinned his arms and legs to the ground, there was no way he was going to get up. I saw Lin sit up in the corner of my eye. Thank god he was alright. I looked down at the dark lord, and how he was struggling. Maya went to heal Jason, as I ran to Lin's side, giving him a hug. It was almost as if nothing happend to him at all, the relief rushing all over my body.

"CANDACE! You didn't finish him off?!" Maya yelled, causing me to give Lin a freaked out look, turning my head around to look at the dark lord

"I... hate.... teenagers!" he yelled and started to charge at us.

I was getting ready to turn into another animal to attack him again, but he stopped, as it looked like his skin was burning. As his flesh burned, it fell off his bones, falling to the ground. He screamed in terror, causing me to put my hands over my ears. I kept staring, taking a quick glance at Maya, she looked as scared as I did. Maya and I gulped, looking over to where dad was. He was kneeling on the ground, looking as if he hadn't slept for days, breathing deeply. Maya and I gasped in realization of what happend, then looking back to where the dark lord had stood. Standing behind the mess was mom. Our real mom.
