Light had surely faded or ran away in fear at their present location. A forest with trees as tall as could be and to the point where no light was visible, but with the help of certain young man, it wasn’t as bad as one might think. The six others kept close to Seif as Helio led the way and they followed into No-Man’s-Land. “Where are we even going?” Cicerio barked. “You’ll find out soon enough…” Helio blankly answered. Seif couldn’t help but snicker as the Prince’s complaints fell on deaf ears. Eden’s body gave a slight twinge, “Wait…hold on...” she whispered. “What is it?” Duo asked. “It sounds almost like…laughter?” Duo suddenly collapsed to the ground, hands on his machine part ears, Seif immediately clung to him. “Synching now in progress…” “Synching? What’s that mean?” Seif asked, looking to Helio. Shoving him aside, Helio held the boy, “Disengage synch process 02, effective immediately.” He ordered. The robot turned to his master, “Authorization password?” “Aah…r-right…” Leaning in, Seif whispered into Duo’s ears and almost instantaneously his eyes were once more back to normal.” “So…what was that?” Cicerio asked. “A frequency message or rather…virus. If he’d fully synched with it then that boy would probably be in a never-ending shut down.” “You mean he’d…die?” “Well, technically that’s impossible since-” Eemil cut Helio off by tugged hard on his long light brown hair. “Error…visuals fading…M-Master?” Duo called out weakly, holding out his hand, trying to find Seif. “What is going on with him?” “You’ll see, come look.” He pointed out. A somewhat large, old and broken looking manor had come into view, in the front yard a worn play set and various children’s toys lying about. “Does a child live here?” Eden asked quietly. “No…worse…” Cicerio hissed. Helio rang the doorbell, and from the other side the others could hear the sound of someone crashing into various things. “So…are you going to tell us anything?” Prisca asked. Of course the Pegasus stayed quiet, at least until an estranged looking figure came to the door. A short, ugly and grotesque looking creature answered the door; it looked up and gave a grunt. “What do you want ye ugly horse?” “I require seeing your Master please.” Helio replied politely. “Eh? Who do ye think ye are? Some kind of god?” it laughed. Prisca was surely getting annoyed; pushing aside Helio she picked up the creature and growled. “He may not be, but I am…so either you let us in, or there’s going to be another poor victim of a drowning case…” “Aye, aye! Fine, come on…” he said upon being dropped. The inside was completely dark, except for some illumination via a few candles. Eventually the creature led them into a pitch black room before slamming the door shut. Eemil buried himself into Helio’s leg, “What’s going on?” “Master, please be careful, I can sense something…approaching…” Duo said, tightly holding Seif’s hand. “Ahahaha!~ So someone dare visit’s the wretched spirit of the manor eh? You must certainly be brave…or stupid! So, what do ya want? And let’s hurry this up, I don’t like waiting.” “I’ve come into possession of one of the Radiant children; I figured you’d want to see him.” “Silly horsie, that’s impossible, the spirit destroyed them all-” Helio gently pulled Duo forward, “Explain this then…” The spirit gaped, “You…h-how?” “I-I-Is someone there?” Duo asked, reaching out his hands. “Restore his sight please…” Helio instructed. The spirit snapped it’s fingers and floated in front of the inhuman being. “Amazing…to think you’re actually really real and alive...is it alright if I check your systems?” it asked eagerly. “Just what kind of spirit is this?” Shay whispered to Cice. “I have no idea but I’m starting to doubt it’s really a spirit…” “Tch…Of course I’m a spirit! Or rather…a commander of spirits! Perhaps if I looked like this…” It snapped it’s fingers, showing the appearance of a white haired girl with the same red eyes. “Hmph, so then…can I give you a proper inspection now?” “Please refer to Master for verification regarding me.” Duo said politely. “What the? My ancestor is the reason for you being alive and this is the respect I’m getting? What the hell is wrong with you?” Seif stepped forward, baring his fangs, “I don’t know who you think you are but I’m in charge of him, not you witch.” She blinked and stared at him for a moment before pulling him in for a quick kiss. “Hm, such a unique signature~ I certainly wouldn’t mind being your pet either~” she giggled. “Ahem. Spira? Can you just please give him the scan already?” Helio reminded. “Ah right then…alright sweetie, just stay still for a second…” “So…who the hell is she?” Seif grumbled. “Spira the spirit witch, I met her some time ago and her ancestor is said to be the legendary spirit that gave Duo and the other one life…” “The one who tricked that poor man?” Eden questioned. Opening up his ears, Spira pulled out some wires and stuck them to her own nearby computer. “Right then…show data, now.” She ordered. With blank eyes, Duo did as she asked, and in a flash Duo’s information showed up on the display screen. “Didn’t we go through this before in the beginning? I remember him being broken…” Cicerio groaned. “Well, you don’t know how to properly search through a Radiant now do you? Shut up watch elf boy.” With fingers dancing across the keyboard, she scanned through Duo’s brain piece by piece. “What are all those symbols?” Eemil asked. “Information…about you guys but mostly his ‘Master’. Alright found it…let’s see. Here are your old files so…” With big white clear words, the screen read only two words. “NO DATA.” Seif couldn’t help but snicker in the background. “Looks like you aren’t as great as you think you are eh?” “Be quiet!! He’s just put up some sort of firewall tis all! Nothing Spira can’t get thr-” The computer suddenly let out a loud beep noise before crashing, making Duo come to. “Hey buddy, you okay?” Seif asked, hugging onto him. “Yes, just fine~” “What d-did you do to my computer?!” she barked. “Duo got bored and wanted to be with his Master so...Duo blew it up~” he replied innocently. “Hmph…well whatever, I can still give you a basic diagnostic on my own just from observations on my own...follow me.” She motioned. She led them to a foyer area and shot a look to Eden. “Why don’t you go and play with the robot for a little while?” “Um…okay. Let’s go Duo~” After the skipped away holding hands to the front yard, Spira turned to Seif. “You have no idea what you’ve stepped into brat.” “Brat? How old are you?” “Many people would surely die to get their hands on the Radiant…if only you knew…” “Maybe you should elaborate then, Seif isn’t exactly the brightest star in the sky.” Commented a certain prince. “Duo isn’t exactly just some kind of doll you know. He’s brought to life from a very powerful magic that literally makes him alive. And because such powerful magic and technology fuels him, he’s beyond anything this world could make. He could easily blow up a castle on his own. If I were to guess…he can already levitate objects right?” “Y-Yea but he almost never does any of that. In fact, he just sort of acts…well…like a little kid.” “But of course, that’s how his Master wants him to function and as such that’s all he’ll know.” “So he talks in third person because…Seif made him?” Eemil guessed. “More or less but he’s always learning…and the sad thing is…it’s only from you....” Seif nervously pointed at himself, “Eh? What do you mean?” “While I was scanning through his brain the last thing I saw read this...I am imperfect, I am not alive, I am nothing to my Master.” “So...obsessed, can’t you fix that?” Shay wondered. “But he’s…just a robot right? What else am I supposed to do for him? Besides try influencing him the right way…” “Figure it out yourself, the moment you gave him a password, you decided he’d be yours. So either figure it out, or give him to me so that I can deactivate him to put him out of his misery…”
It was strange…but for some reason, I was now able to hear that person’s heart beat…but I didn’t want to say anything. It sounded like…beeps.
“I wonder why Miss Spira has all these children’s toys. Did she ever have children?” Duo asked. “That woman seems so strange then again…Helio does as well. How could he ever meet someone like that?” “She doesn’t ever seem like she would leave her house…” Duo commented, throwing a ball to Eden. Her ears suddenly gave a twitch, “You…feel that?” “Something’s…almost calling us..” The two looked at one another, held each other’s hands and walked off in the direction of the strange presence. The two ended up in a completely blank and life less place. “Duo…do you hear that?” Eden asked. The sound became louder and louder, a series of quick beeps. Each one faster and shorter than the one before it, until eventually one long beep followed. Then, it stopped. In the blink of an eye, the two were taken back to the front yard of the manor once more. “What…was that?” Eden asked. “Duo is…unsure. Should we tell Master?” “No, I don’t want to make any one of them worry, c’mon, let’s head back inside kay?” Eden said with a smile on her face. As she watched Duo walk away, she could feel her body become a tad heavier than usual. “My leg…was I lying on it too long I wonder?” she asked herself. Ignoring, she walked inside with Duo to meet with Spira. She leaned in, a wide smirk on her face. “You can’t fool me ya know~” The young girl backed away for a moment before Spira turned to the rest with a completely different expression. “So then, how about you all rest here for the night eh? I promise that it won’t be a bother~” she sang. “At this point…I’m not really sure if you can be trusted…since we know nothing about you.” Cicerio pointed out. “Ohoho~ Silly little prince, so intelligent, almost had ya huh? Well since you don’t trust little ol’ me…I suppose a brief explanation well do. Ask a question and I will answer.” The group looked at one another and decided that Cice would ask most of the questions. “There’s an evil presence in this place…what do you do here?” “Ouch! Straight to the bad points eh? Alright, alright~ Believe it or not, I’m a sort of…piper.” “Where’s your flute?” Eden asked. Spira rolled her eyes and snapped her fingers, making the house black as night one by one, balls of various colors gathered around one by one. “I’m a piper of the spirits, I sort them out from good and evil and a few other things that I’m not allowed to speak of…just know that I work mostly for the dead~” “How can we be sure you won’t kill us in our sleep then?” “I don’t kill, and if I wanted, I’d get others to do that for me but I believe that Helio can vouch for my innocence.” “She seems decent enough, plus I’m pretty sure we’d be able to tell if something odd was going to happen…” Seif whispered. “Fine we’ll…stay, but know that I’ll be watching you…ghost.”
The rooms were arranged in an odd sort of way, Seif with Duo, Eemil with Helio (obviously a certain elder brother wasn’t exactly overjoyed about this), Shay with Prisca, and Cicerio with Eden. Poor Shay, face as red as a tomato had been shivering not from the cold or fear of spirits but of beautiful undine lying beside him. “You really need to lighten up ya know? I mean who knows how long we’ll be stuck together so…I’m nothing to be afraid of…” “I-I know that it’s just…” “Oh I know! My Papa would always sing me to sleep, how about that?” “W-W-Wha?!” But before he could decline or push her away, a beautiful sound resonated through the room. Within a mere few minutes of singing, Prisca’s soprano had lulled the boy to sleep. Giggling a bit, she snuggled closer to him with a smile on her face before falling asleep herself, ’Whoopsie~’ she thought. Nearby in another room were Eemil and Helio. ‘Helio is so…big and tall, he almost frightens me a bit.’ The child thought. Yet even from a distance he could feel the Pegasus’s warmth. “How can you stay so warm without wearing anything?” Eemil couldn’t help but ask. “It’s because I am a being of light. Darker things like vampires or spirits tend to be cold while their opposites are warm, you can say it’s a built in mechanism I suppose.” “Lucky…” he pouted, shivering a bit. Helio turned over, revealing his beautiful figure, and especially without his normal glasses, he seemed almost like a god. Eemil’s face burned darker and darker, “Ah…y-you don’t have to be so…c-close…” “Forgive me, another built in tendency I suppose…” he said, looking away. Eemil could see the pain behind the young man’s eyes, gulping he decided to take a chance and ask. “This witch, where do you…know her from?” “It’s a complicated story, especially one for a child…” “I’m not five, and I think I have a right to know when you’re traveling with us…please, I promise I won’t tell a single soul.” Helio sighed, his beautiful wings covering the two of them perhaps for more privacy. “A long, long, long time ago I ended up using my powers for…well, a bad reason.” “What did you do?” Eemil asked, gulping. “I saved a girl, her name was Aoife. She was a bit rough on the outside but in a lot of ways…she reminded me a lot of you…sweet and completely innocent.” He said, lightly stroking the child’s face. “Ah…H-Helio…I…” Eemil felt his body literally feel like feathers when it’d happened, his heart too had been sent perhaps to another world, while his body warmed immensely from the sudden kiss. Eemil closed his eyes and relaxed his body, not wanting it to stop but within a few minutes, he let go. “Sorry Eemil…that wasn’t…meant to happen…” “Ah…it’s okay Helio, I didn’t mind..” he replied, of course his face plastered down. The Pegasus sighed, pulling the child closer to his chest while smiling. “Your brother will clip my wings once he finds out…” “It’s….okay, I’ll defend you if that’s what I have to do…it can be our secret…”
“Miss Eden! I didn’t expect you to be up so…late…” commented the Elven prince. Eden giggled, “I’ve been a bit sleepless for a while lately...It’s normal really~” “Wha?! Why didn’t you tell anyone?! If you did then-” “It’s fine really, it’s just…well when I sleep I...feel like I’m not going to wake up again?” “What do you mean?” ‘Ah…I don’t want to make him worry but…’ “Sleeping is…scary for me…” she confessed,
Yowza long overdue and totally not making sense...And I skipped making a moment for Seif and Duo cause they were in this one a lot...plus with the last one...and I'm in a but of a rut...
