As soon as she walked in to the bar, Avia Talon knew she was going to end up alone again. Her friends were much more bold than her, and very less picky. He long black hair was combed straight, her green eyes accented with light colored eye-liner, her skirt swishing against her thighs and V-neck baby blue blouse, all felt too revealing for her. The only thing she currently felt fond of were the black high heeled stilletos that her friend Jessica had lent her.
The friend in question strode meaningfully beside her, scoping the room for handsome men to set her gal pal up with. Her own hair, which was blond and florescent, was placed in what she called 'sexy curls', wearing the thightest jeans Avia's ever seen, and was jealous on how gracefully they accented her long legs. Jessica's black jacket covered a white tank top underneath. She somehow managed to style a pair of blue and red flats on her small feet.
Avia sighed heavily, and Jessica giggled, exlcaiming,"The place is really bumping tonight! I bet there will be tons of men you could snag, Avi..." Her friend gripped her blouse shoulder tightly, smiling her milky white teeth at every stud-like man that walked past them.
"I don't know, Jess..." Avia mumbled, not able to meet anyone's gaze in the loud, pub-like bar. Jessica frowned at her as the two friends sat down on bar stools.
"Avi, you're already twenty-three years old. You've never had a boyfriend, a one-night-stand, sex, for that matter, and I bet you've never even been kissed. Relatives don't count."
Avia sighed heavily, guilt and knowing her best friend was right churning her stomach and making her head swim with frustration. She was so glum that she jumped in her seat as the bartender asked them, his tones husky and sweet,"Good evening ladies. What'll it be?"
Avia looked at him, and glanced at Jessica. Then, turning her attention back to the bartender, she noticed something. He was extremely handsome.
A clean shave lined his masculine jaw, hazel eyes almost golden toned, long brown hair swept to the side in an attractive way. He also had broad shoulders, his collared black T-shirt pressed against his muscled figure. Avia swallowed hard, and felt her throat dry up in this man's pressence.
Jessica then spoke up, snapping her from her trance. "We'll have two Cocktails..." she leaned across the counter to read his name tag."...Kevin." She smiled at him, and Kevin chimed as he turned to prepare their drinks,"Right away."
As soon as Kevin had turned his back to work on their beverages, Jessica giggled in a childish way and whispered to Avia,"God, he's so hot!" Avia groaned internally, not able to help but agree with her. Her green gaze raked over the new employee, chewing her lower lip as she examined the chiseled features on his tanned skin. She found herself mesmerized by his body, watching as his arms and chest seemed to flex with each of his movements.
She tried to look away as Kevin turned around, two Cocktail glasses filled to the brim in his hands. There was a cherry on one, and he handed the fancy drink to Avia, the unaccented one to Jessica.
"Your drinks, girls," he said, and as he turned again, Avia could've sworn he flashed her a wink and a smile. She entwined her fingers around the stem of her glass, and lifted the tip to her lips as she continued to gaze at this man. With a sharp squeal, Jessica managed to jump out of the way in time as another man stumbled between them, knocking Avia's drink square down her blouse.
She dropped the glass, not caring as she pushed the man off of her. Drunk b*****d. With another squeal, Jessica whipped her jacket off as people began to clap and hoot. "A-Vi-Aa!!" she hissed, turning her name in to three words. Avia herself didn't see the problem, but looked down slowly at the drink stain, and with a horror-filled cry, she shoved her arms over her chest, blouse turned transparent by her coktail after it had splashed on her front.
Face hot and red, she accepted Jessica's jacket hastily and zipped it up before covering her face with her hands, trying to ignore the many more hoots and clapping from the crowd in the bar. She startled as hands that could not belong to Jessica enveloped her shoulders, guiding her to het feet and off the stool with a warm and careful feel.
"There's a back exit," a husky voice informed her and Jessica.
Oh God, Avia thought, her ears ringing and blood pumping, he saw...
As the three of them pushed through the crowd, Kevin still beside her, she peeked through her splaying fingers at him, feeling very embarrassed. Jessica caught sight of the back exit and pushed the heavy door open for them, and Kevin guided Avia out of the bar. The back door led to a wide alley way, a fire escape hanging overhead, brick walls on either side and ashphalt beneath their feet. Avia sniffled, trembling, feeling like throwing up.She stopped, though, as her shoulders were jostled lightly by the same hands of the handsome bartender.
"Hey, are you okay?" He asked, almost in unison with Jessica. "Are you hurt?" This time, just Kevin. Avia realized she had been bent over slightly the whole time, and straightened up, letting her hands slide from her face to craddle her own arms against her tosro. She nodded slowly, and replied,"Just my dignity." He gave her another dazzling smile, saying,"Good. It'd be bad if someone got hurt in our bar. Bad publicity..."
Jessica shuffled to her friend's side, hissing in her ear a tone that was both encouraging and jealous,"Ask him out." As Kevin mumbled to himself, his mind obviously wandering off, Avia snapped back at her friend, horrified,"No! He just... And my shirt... That drunk b*****d..." Jessica giggled for the third time tonight, and smirked as she said,"Well, if you don't want him, I'll take him."
Avia froze, and glared at her, glowering. She knew that she could easily ensnare this gorgeous man in her seductive games.
"... No, you won't, because I'm asking him out," she huffed at her friend after a few moments. She suddenly regretted saying anything, as the man in question asked,"Ask who out?" Jessica was loving this, but couldn't let her best friend suffer. So, she snapped the pain up.
"Avia here was wondering if you'd like to come over to her place for dinner when you're free, to thank you," she lied, straight to his face with a brusque nod in Avia's direction. Kevin, in a questioning way, raised a brow at her, chuckling,"Really?"
Avia's heart thumped like mad, and she swore she'd get Jessica for this later, but for now, she just nodded at him, the universal sign of 'yes'.
