View User's Journal

Continuing on from the "Journal description", this is also a place where I will make random stuff, and a place where I will show off my "artsy-fartsy" side. :XP:
CURRENTLY LISTENING TO: Nothing.
MOOD: Tired and brain dead, so I'm just going to cut-and-paste an Inuyasha movie Analysis rant I made on the "Intelligent Discussion" thread made by Netsuai.

So, as I've mentioned before, I'm too lazy to write something in my journal, so I decided to use the good old "cut-and-paste" method. 3nodding I've been running about on my feet looking for something to add to my journal, because, as always I DO need to find something to rant about. So, if there's anyone reading this, please excuse its long-ness and read it all the way to the end and chew off of it for the rest of the day. Thank you very much and goodnight. biggrin

***WARNING!!! SPOILERS!!!***
I own all three movies, and I want to own the fourth one so I can watch it over and over again until my computer explodes. Anyway, the following order of my favorite movies would be:

1. The Swords of World Conquest (movie 3)
2. Affections touching Across Time (movie 1)
3. The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass (movie 2)

1. MOVIE 3:
The reason why I like the third movie so much is because I loved the way they portrayed Takemaru and Sounga. Unlike Menomaru and Kaguya, both Takemaru and Sounga keep their evil laughter at a minimum (yes, I've actually counted the number of times Menomaru and Kaguya laugh in the movies. Menomaru - 14 times, and Kaguya - 20, I think, and Takemaru/Sounga - 6). I also liked the way they gave Takemaru a REASON for his insanity, instead of a power-hungry, I'm-going-to-conquer-the-world villain, Takemaru actually has a reason why he's so "insane".

Another reason why I liked the third movie the best was because of the angsty scenes. I will not deny it to you. I absolutely ADORE dramatic, angsty stuff (not the Mary Sues or the Mpregs, or the "Super-horny-and-incestuous-bullshit" wink . I loved the way they showed Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru's longing side, and although most of the time Sesshoumaru came out angry, I loved they way he actually showed SOME emotion other than apathy. Inuyasha made me want to hug him and tell him that it was okay.

The very idea of the appearance of Sesshoumaru. Indeed, I will not deny that I am a complete Sesshoumaru fan, thus I am always extremely happy whenever he makes his appearance. I also liked the way Sesshoumaru was very protective of Inuyasha near the end. They way he actually SHOWED concern on his face and pushed Inuyasha out of the way to take the Gokryuuha himself was very touching and gave me the shivers.

The effects were excellent, despite the fact that the ending part where the ominous cloud was going back to where it originated. That part really did bother me. My all time favorite of all the scenes were the battle scenes, simply because of all the pretty effects they did. My favorite battle scene was the one where Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru were duking it out in the bamboo forest. That was my favorite part because not only was the effects the best, but we also got the angsty part of BOTH Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru in that scene.

All the other movies I've seen were centered around the Inu tachi. I do like them, but sometimes they became too dominant. In the third movie, I think they did a good job with balancing Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru, the Sesshoumaru group, the Inu tachi, and Takemaru's part. Although the Inu Tachi and the Sesshoumaru group did not appear as much, I did like the way they came together and fought the soulless soldiers.

2. MOVIE 1:
I love this movie as well. Although a lot of people don't like this movie as much, I still like it better than movie 2. Sure, there are a lot of flaws to the first movie, but I don't think I've seen as much flaws in it as I have for the third movie (my all time favorite). I didn't like the way they portrayed Menomaru, making him laugh too much, and Ruri and Hari were super annoying, but I did like the Kagome/Inuyasha/Kikyou parts.

Again, it was the angsty parts that really got me. My favorite part from that was when Kagome was stuck in her time and Inuyasha was in the Sengoku jidai. Actually, I liked the part where Kagome and Inuyasha were talking together when Menomaru lost control of Kagome for a second. When Inuyasha told Kagome that he wouldn't leave her, it made me cry. You see, I don't cry when I watch sad movies. Take Titanic for example. That movie made some GUYS cry, and I didn't even cry when I saw that.

Let's face it, for me, the music was BEAUTIFUL. In fact, other than the fact that I am die hard about getting the fourth movie, I am also die hard for getting the soundtrack for the first movie. The song was the best for me. Music is the most important part of movies/anime (and cartoons)/TV shows. If the music sucks, the scene, no matter how well done it is, is ruined. Try watching good horror movies and blotting the music out. Without the music, horror movies become extremely stupid and funny. You're also hearing this from someone who cannot watch horror movies. The violins, the traditional instruments (I LOVE traditional east asian instruments with a passion) all really did it for me.

I also liked the Sango and Kirara part. It was beautiful and when Hari took Kirara away from Sango it made me want to rip her heart out and throw it out my dorm room window. I loved the humor scenes as well, but not as much as I did for the second movie. One thing I didn't like about this was the relationship of the Shikon no kakara. I wished they alienated this movie from the whole series altogether.

3. MOVIE 2:
Okay, I don't know about everyone else, but I HATED this movie. Minus the Inuyasha/Kagome parts and the funny future scenes, I hated this movie. The reason why I hated this movie was because of the appearance of Naraku. You see, for me, when I think of an anime movie, I think of something that has nothing to do with the series. Unfortunately, Naraku appears in it, and we have a HUGE connection to the series. Had they taken Naraku OUT of the series, the second movie would have been tied with the first one.

Despite my undying grudge towards Naraku's appearance and ruining of the plot, there are parts I do like about this movie. Again, as I've mentioned before, I loved the Inuyasha and Kagome kiss scene as well as the future scene where Kagome is talking to Souta and tells the other dogs to sit. I also liked how they were in the photo-booth arguing, and the huge crowd had gathered around the booth to see what was wrong.

I didn't like the music. Although the quality of the music was excellent as usual, I just didn't like the "o-ahhh-ahhh" song with Kaguya. It really did disturb me. Another thing I wasn't happy about was kaguya's laugh. Like Menomaru, she laughed... A LOT. The only difference between the two is that Kaguya laughs even MORE, and she has this "huh-huh-huh" laugh to her. Menomaru's laugh, to me, was GOOD, but overdone. Kaguya's was bad AND overdone.

I didn't like Akitoki Houjo either. Other than the fact that he was the carrier of the Celestial Robe, he served no other purposes in the movie other than freak out about Youkai, become Shippou's slave, and act like a clumsy fool. Hell, I don't even know WHY he has a sword with him when he's too clumsy to use it. Other than that, the ideas were good, and I liked the Sango and Kohaku scenes. The second movie had a lot of potential on becoming a good movie. I wonder why Sunrise had to add Naraku in it.

Yep. That's my big, long rant about my opinion on the movies. I know it's very long, but oh well.... when it comes to the movie, I go off on an even bigger rant than I do with the actual series. sweatdrop
