Act One: Dark Disorder, Part Two
“Gerard!” the figure shouted at him over the sound of the singing rain. Gerard walked faster whispering his rant, with his eyes closed hoping the figure wouldn’t catch up to him but knowing it would. The figure stomped its way over to Gerard, splashing its rain boots in the puddles that were sprawled out in front of it. The figure was male. His height was around six feet. He was very lean and pale. His hair was dark, just like Gerard’s, and his eyes were hazel as well. “Hey, what’s up? Where were you?” he asked, panting.
“…Innocent like roller coasters. Fatality is like ghosts in snow and you have no idea what you’re up against …” Gerard rambled, still walking forward, ignoring the man that was trying to keep up with him.
“Gerard, are you alright?” The man said, still gasping for air.
“…As if they’re sterling silver chainsaws cascading …”
“Gerard, stop,” said the man, reaching out to Gerard, grabbing his arm and stopping him. Pulling Gerard back to face him. “Are you alright? Gerard, it’s me, Mikey, your brother.”
“And as always, innocent like roller coasters...” Gerard kept whispering, over and over again.
Mikey looked at his brother, surprised at what he was seeing and hearing. He sensed that something was horribly wrong with his older brother, really wrong. His talk about innocent roller coasters, ghosts in snow and sterling silver chainsaws frightened Mikey to an extent. Gerard has never ever acted this way before and his neck was bleeding … and his girlfriend was nowhere to be found.
“Okay,” Mikey said to his older brother, taking him by the shoulders and making Gerard look at him. Gerard looked as if he was drunk, or just senseless. Angry and rebelling against his brother. “Just let me take you home and I’ll make you some coffee and we’ll just talk, okay? J-just let me see if I can call Taylor to see if I can get a hold of her, alright? Just …”
“Taylor is dead.” Gerard said, interrupting his own rant to tell his brother. Gerard looked at Mikey, as if he were normal again, in some sense. “She died because they took her blood and I couldn’t save her. A-and she kept on to telling me to leave ... but, I
c-couldn’t …I couldn’t …”
“I’ll call Frank, Ray, and Bob and we’ll all talk about it, okay? Come with me. I’ll take you home.” Mikey put his arms around Gerard’s shoulders.
He tried to lead his older brother home, but Gerard stopped in his tracks and resisted.
“C’mon Gerard lets just go home” Mikey pleaded.
“No,” Gerard replied sharply, “Leave me. I’m dangerous now … I-I don’t want to hurt you … I don’t want to do something I’ll regret.” Gerard calmed himself and stared at the ground. Just watched the rain slowly creep down the sidewalk.
“Gerard your not okay, Your not well,” Mikey said softly, with worry in his voice.
“Please can’t we just go home?” Gerard stared deep into Mikey’s eyes.
He could see that his brother was worried, scared and insecure… Mikey’s eyes started to water and he tried to hide it.
Gerard slowly broke the silence and replied, “Okay … Okay Mikey, Lets go home.” Gerard hugged his little brother, “Don’t worry I’ll be fine,” he spoke softly. Gerard gently pushed Mikey away. Mikey pressed his glasses to his eyes and smiled a little.
Gerard eased his serious expression and once again watched the water creep down the inclined sidewalk. Mikey looked at His older brother with both awe and confusion … what did he mean he didn’t want to hurt him? Or do something he’d regret …? What … exactly would he regret doing? Mikey was worried but decided to put it off for the night. The two brothers walked home silently, with an occasional stare at each other.
