The crestent moon was shinning high in the sky that night. Nate was walking his dog Regus around the block when he saw a shooting star fly above him. Nate then heard a whisteling coming from in front of him and Regus pulled from him running towards a figure in the darkness. What's that? He thought.

"More like Who'sthat? Wouldn't you say?" said the figure as it walked up into the light in front of Nate. It was a woman around her early 30's with long dark hair and emerald green eyes that glued Nate to where he was standing, stareing in awe.

"Sorry," Nate stuttered. " Uh, whoare you." Nate paused and relized he hadn't said anything out loud until then and said, " How...... how did you know what i was thinking?"

There came a burst of laughter from the woman. You would have thought she was one of the hyenas from the Lion King from the way she was carrying on in laughter. Then she finally calmed down after a few minutes of hysaria and said, "Okay..." still struggeling to keep herself togther, "to answer your first qoustion my name is Lillyana." She held out a hand to Nate and he gave a quick shake.

"The second?" Nate asked in curiosity.

"The second...." Lillyana mused around the qoustion pondering on how to explain it to Nate; then she finally said, "Put it simply i can read minds." She sad with a smile.

Nate cocked an eyebrow and said in disbelif, " You can read peoples minds?" He shook his head and said, "sorry, i just don't belive it. Maybe if you proved it to me."

Lillyana huffed in agitation. She always hated it when people asked her to prove that she could read their minds. She took a breath and spoke, "Fine. Think of something comletly random."

Heh she'll never figure this out! I have.....

"......Have my sister's diary hidden in the back of my closet she's probably freaking about it right now...." Lillyana repeated as she read Nate's thoughts. "You know, it's not very nice to take things from your sister. Like you said, well thought actually she is probably freaking out about it. A girl's diary is her most pressious possesion in her young life."

Nate stood in disbelife. So sure that she was a fake, he never expected for a real mind reader to appear before him and so he stutted these wors that were to bring the most dangerous of cercumstances to him. "What do you want with me?"

Lillyana looked at him kindly and explained, "Why, Nate, I just want to protect you. As you are the KEEPER."

The words that Lillyana flew right through Nate and he knew imeadetly that they had a special meaning and that they would stay with him forever.

But, him being a twelve year boy who had thought that the only mind readers there were were the ones in X-MEN and he hadn't even ever heard of what a KEEPER was. So the only thing he could think of to say was, "Huh?"
