Shattered
By Kristan Lau
5/28/09

She lived through hundreds of dreams,
Fantasized a thousand pleasures,
Thought about a million questions,
and experienced myriads of worlds

Her dreams were shattered,
Her fantasies never came true,
Her questions never answered,
Every world a mirrage

She didn't expect anything,
Though she did want more than she had
And she wasn't satisfied,
Not one bit... Not one bit...

Life never gave her enough,
She demanded more than what it could give her
She would never have eternal life,
Or experience more than one world

It would always be the same tired life,
With the same tired things,
When what she wanted was something new,
But even something new was hard to give to her

She tried to make her world something more
Since life wouldn't do it for her,
she decided to do it herself
Doing it herself should earn her a bigger reward

She was selfish, too selfish for her own good
And she suffered
For years and years on
Because she still wanted more than what she could get

When her life ended, she died angry
Because she wanted more,
As much as she didn't want to admit it,
she expected too much out of life

And she was thrown against cracked glass,
Her skin cut and red with blood,
Her face wrinkled and tired,
Her body broken, her well-being shattered
