Purgatory
"This is the place where death rejoices, in teaching the living..." - Donald "Ducky" Mallard. "We can't die with dignity, we have to live with it." - Greg House, M.D.
-The Dream- (Poem/Story)
He runs up to me.
His green eyes blue with tears.
"Help me!" He says, throwing himself around me.
"With what? I'll do anything." I say, returning his gesture reluctantly.
"I need...to...I need to die. Help me. Help me die." He says, holding me closer.
"NO!" I scream. He shakes me, rolls up his sleeve to reveal his arm, adorned with crimson, dried, blood.
"Yes. I need to die. You can't tell me I don't want to. I know what I need." He said calmly.
"No. I'm not letting you go."
"Please. Just let me go. I can't do this anymore."
"No...no. I'll help you through this."
"Can't you see! I want to die! I want to die!" He screams.
"No. I...no!" A tear comes down my cheek.
He slammed me against the wall.
"What are you doing?" I cry.
"If you won't let me go, I'm taking you down with me." He says through gritted teeth. He slams me to the cold, marble, floor. "Stupid whore! Why..." He kicks me. "Can't." Kick. "You." Kick. "See!" Kick. "I WANT TO DIE!"
"I'm sorry!" I screamed. I covered my face, full of tears.
"NO! Kill me! Kill me and then I'll believe you!"
"NO!" I screamed. He pulled my up by the shoulders and held tightly.
"Look me in the eyes. Tell me I don't want to die. Look at the bruises and scratches on my limbs, tell me I don't want to die." I took his arm, and put my lips to a scratch. "You don't want to die. You don't want to die." I whispered. He wrapped his hand around my face.
"Look me in the eyes. Tell me I don't want to die. Taste the words, fresh out of my mouth, and tell me I don't want to die." I pressed my lips lightly to his. "You don't want to die." A tear streamed down his cheek.
"Listen to me. Please. You don't know what it's like. I need this. I need this. Please. Come with me. We'll be together forever. I promise." I followed him to an old elevator. He opened the door and walked in.
"Please." I took his hand. He pulled the door shut. The only light was the moonlight coming into the elevator from cracks in the walls. He kissed me one final time, and the elevator sped up with every move he took. He took something from his sweater. It was silver, and shined. He moved his arm, and twitched his finger. In that split second there was a little spark, and a huge noise. I plugged my ears and pulled away from him, the elevator sped up. It was amazing. He leaned in again, his hands around my neck. I closed my eyes.
"Good bye. I love you. Thank you for helping me through this."
"I love you too." I kisssed him. Tasted the words fresh out of his mouth. He wanted to die. I didn't.
