Her dad was drunk. Madison could smell it the minute she walked in the house. “I’m home” She called “I’m going up to my room to do my homework” “No, come here” Her dad called back. She walked into the kitchen where he was sitting at the dining room table, drinking. She stood in front of him. “yes?” He slapped her across the face. “You don’t use that tone with me.” “Sorry” She replied “What can I do for you dad?” He smiled smugly and crossed his arms over his chest. “Nothing” He said. “Now get out” Maddie turned around and quickly walked away from the table. “Faster!” Her father screamed shoving her into the wall. She ran out of the kitchen and up the stairs into her room.
Her father chased her up the stairs shouting and cussing. When Madison reached her room she raced inside and locked her father out. When he finally made it up the stairs he pounded on the door. He yelled and called her names. Eventually he would pick the lock and beat her for not letting him in. He went off to find a hairclip. Her father was extremely good at picking locks.
Maddie took the only way out. She threw her window open and jumped. When she hit the ground, after falling two stories down, she twisted her ankle. Maddie didn’t care. She ran as fast as she could to the park. When she arrived at the park she sat on a bench and rubbed her throbbing ankle. Her father would never look for her here.
