Short story
All that could be heard in the black night was her soft foot steps on the wet sidewalk. Annaria looked behind her occasionally, with a sense that someone was following her. But everytime she looked, a shadow would disappear from veiw. Her imagination was running wild with her as she began to hear foot steps softer than her own. She stopped and turned once more, her heart pounding in her chest.
Her eyes fell onto a cat, its fur as dark as the night sky.
"Oh god... Scary little thing..." she said, her hand over her heart. She turned to be on her way again, when she noticed a dark figure standing before her. Her eyes widened with fear as she took a few uneasy steps back.
"You're not too scared, are you?" the figure asked, lifting the hood of its checkered jacket.
It was just a girl, she looked a bit younger than Annaria. She was dressed like any other person you would see on the streets, but she was different. She was so beautiful, and her skin was pale. But her irises gleamed blood red.
"Um, n-no..." Annaria said, paralyzed at the sight of the girl's eyes.
"Well, that's so rude. You're so lying." came a voice from behind.
It was another girl, dressed just like the first. They were twins, except for one was blonde and the other was raven-haired. They both barred sickening smiles, and they radiated blood-lust.
"Um, I need to be going..." Annaria said weakly, heading off in a different direction.
"Uh, I don't think so." said another beautiful being that stood before her.
He had strawberry blonde hair, and he smirked evilly at her. His leather jacket gleamed in the light of a street lamp. It was zipped down, and he was bare chested. He was as pale and his eyes were red, if not paler and redder, than the twins.
"Please, let me pass," Annaria tried to say with courage, but she couldn't help but fear that they were thugs.
"C'mon, gorgeous. Hang with us..." he said seductively, reaching a hand out to her.
"Wait a second! We're your gorgeouses! Not that human!" the twins said together, a malice jealous tone sensed.
"Calm down, do you want to eat or not?" he asked, grabbing Annaria's arm.
He pulled her close to him, pressing his lips to her forehead. She was shaking with fear, her body paralyzed as she bent to his will. He kissed her cheek, then down her neck. His skin was ice cold to her.
"I get the first bite," he said, warning off the twins that were approaching.
He opened his mouth to reveal sharp fangs, and they brushed against her neck as she shivered.
"Back off of her, Jaden." came a strong voice from behind the twins.
They cringed away from the new comer, hissing at him, their own fangs revealed. Jaden looked up and smiled.
"Well well well... Leo. Come to join us?" he asked casually, hugging Annaria to him.
She was too frightened to look around at the one named Leo. The twins came to Jaden's sides and began running their fingers along her arms.
"Misa, Mya... You both go back home. I have already caught your dinner." Leo said, eyeing them.
"Awwww, not old people! They taste funny!" they whined together, heading off down the street, arm in arm.
"You know it's our job to only devour deing souls." Leo scolded as they disappeared into the dark.
He approached Jaden and pulled Annaria out of his arms, pulling her behind him.
"Go Jaden!" he growled, Jaden snickering quietly.
"Fine fine... She just smelt so good..." he mused, looking behind Leo at the shivering girl.
"I said go!!" he growled again.
Jaden nodded, bowing and turning to the darkness, vanishing along with his snickers.
Leo turned to look at Annaria, and she looked up at him, her face flushed with fear. His eyes were not red like the others. His were a soft pale blue, and his hair was jet black, darker than the sky. He was a foot taller than her, and his skin was pale, but it had a tinged of color to it. His eyes were gentle as they looked into her own emerald eyes.
"Are you alright?" he asked gently.
"Y-yes... thank you..." she said weakly and quietly.
"Can you please tell me your name?" he asked, taking her hand.
She blushed red and looked down, "Of course, my name is Annaria Williams."
He put a finger under her chin and pulled her face up. He kissed her hand lightly, looking into her eyes again.
"My name is Leon. If you are put in danger with those three again, I will come rescue you." he said softly.
He turned and walked off into the darkness, leaving her stunned and amazed.

That would not be the last time they saw eachother...
