FATAL ATTRACTION
chapter 2:

My mind kept repeating Chris' words like a broken record.
Shailene will be attending Rutherford Academy starting tomorrow.
I jumped when I heard Jesse's fist slam on the desk.
"She can't leave! Why would you send her off like that?"
Chris frowned. "Jesse, she has to be with her own kind"
"How do you know she can survive with other vampires?"
Jesse yelled. "You never considered her feelings for this did you? You can't just send her away!"
I placed my hand on his shoulder. "Jesse it's alright."
Jesse looked at me confused and angry. "What?"
"Jess, thankyou for worrying about me but it's alright. I belong with the vampires not you guys."
Those words just seemed to angry him even more."So we're not good for you now? You have to remember we took you in when you had no one. We're your family not those idiots. Why would you just want to throw all of that away huh? Tell me why damnit!"
I looked away. "It's because I'm nothing like you Jesse. I don't belong here."
Jesse smacked my hand off his shoulder clearly hurt. "So that's what this is. Your'e becoming like one of them huh? You think I care whether we're family with a vampire? I thought that didn't matter to you either."
"Jesse it doesn't I jus-"
"Obviously it does" He said with cold disdain as he walked out of the office slamming the door shut.
I winced and looked at Chris. He acted as if Jesse's words didn't even affect him.
"So you do understand right Shailene?"
I nodded my head. "I understand."

The next night I was putting my bags in the back of a limousine that was sent from Rutherford Academy to pick me up.Arianna and Chris had come to see me off, but Jesse was nowhere to be found. He was probably still mad at me.
"Don't worry about Jesse." Arianna patted my shoulder. "He'll come around. Besides, you're only 15 minutes away from us and you'll be able to visit on weekends if you'd like. It's not like they're taking you away forever."
I smiled at her feeling a little better. "Thanks Ari.I'll miss you the most."
When she no longer could contain her emotions, she tackled me nearly throwing me to the ground.
"Y-you were the best sister ever. Don't f-forget about me Shai."
I could feel my tears begin to form as I hugged her back. "I won't"
"Ms. Jackson it is time to go." My driver informed me.
I broke away from Arrianna and walked over to Chris who smiled at me warmly.
"Thankyou for taking me in."
Chris chuckled and placed his hand on my head. "It was my pleasure to have you as my daughter."
I looked at him shocked and he embraced me tightly. Great. Now my tears will actually break the surface.
"Ms. Jackson." My driver called again.
Chris let me go and smiled again. I walked to the open car door and took in one more look at Belrose Academy. I could see Jesse frowning down at me from the headmaster's window. I stared at him waiting to see if he would do anything but only received a cold hard stare in return.
Goodbye Jesse.I got into the car and we drove off. When I was starting to get comfortable the driver slammed on his breaks throwing me to the ground head first.
]"What the hell?" I hissed while rubbing my aching head.
The door suddenly opened and Jesse stepped in the car.
"Jesse?" I squeaked "What are you doing here?"
Jesse folded his arms across his chest. "I just wanted to tell you that I will never forgive you for what you're doing."
I narrowed my eyes annoyed. "You stopped the car just for that?"
Jesse snorted in response.
"Jesse you really are a fool. Why don't you just get out and leave. If you don't forgive me then why are you here?
"That's not the only reason why i'm here." He snapped
"Then whatis it?"
He handed me a box. "This is something so you won't forget me."
I took the box blushing. "For me? Wow, thanks Jesse, but you know I'll be visiting on weekends and holidays."
"What?" He shouted. "But Arianna said you were leaving forever."
I shook my head. "She lied to you. I can't believe you fell for it."
"Shut up!"
I could only laugh.Yeah, I was definetly going to miss home.
